Ignazio Marchesan

He was predeceased by his wife of 61 years, Rita Marchesan, who passed away recently on January 7, 2026. Ignazio is remembered as a caring father to his children: Daniel, Irene Scheifele (Chris), and David (Anita), who predeceased him in 2025. He was a proud Nonno to his granddaughters: Justine, Isabella, Maya, and Sara. Born in Castello di Godego, Treviso, Italy, on May 10, 1935, to parents Irene and Tranquillo Marchesan, Ignazio later moved to Canada.

He took great pride in his 34-year career at Owens Corning Fiberglas in Guelph, Ontario. At home, he nurtured a beautiful vegetable garden, growing favourites such as zucchini, tomatoes, and radicchio. One of his pastimes was taking long walks through the city of Guelph, enjoying the local beauty and nature. Ignazio also loved the tradition of winemaking, every September, he would buy grapes, and the entire family would gather to help. He enjoyed watching The Price Is Right, playing bocce ball, and he always had a deep appreciation for a good salami sandwich or an Italian meal. Ignazio will be missed by family and friends in Canada, Italy and abroad.

A Celebration of Life Gathering will be held at Gilbert MacIntyre & Son Funeral Home - Hart Chapel (1099 Gordon St. Guelph) on Saturday, March 28 from 11:00 am - 1:00 pm.
