Born on July 1, 1945, Jim faced challenges early in life, losing his father at just 12 years old. As the second oldest of five siblings, he took on the role of caring for his family, a responsibility that shaped his hardworking and selfless nature.
Jim went on to pursue hairdressing, a trade he cherished throughout his life. Alongside his beloved wife, Sophia (Bosch), with whom he shared 53 wonderful years, he built both a family and a successful business in Guelph, Ontario, where they owned Campus Estates Hairstyling.
When not working, Jim could most often be found at his favorite place, Pike Lake. Weekends, and eventually full summers, were happily spent surrounded by friends, laughter, golf, and a cold beer in hand. Winters took Jim and Sophia to Florida, where they continued the fun in the sunshine. Their Florida home became the heart of family trips, serving as a special gathering place for beach trips and Disney adventures with their grandchildren.
Above all, Jim was a family man. He was the proud and loving father of Deanna (Donald), Jody and Kelly (Jason). Jim’s greatest joy came from being “Grandpa” to Jesse, Jordan, Mikayla, Maddox, MeKenna, and was newly a great-grandpa to Axel. His grandchildren will cherish memories of his humour, advice and stories that he shared around campfires, dinner tables and on the fairway.
A celebration of Jim’s life will be held on Thursday August 28, 2025, from 12 noon to 2 pm at Gilbert MacIntyre & Son Funeral Home, 1099 Gordon Street, Guelph, Ontario.
