Jim was a dearly loved husband, father, grandfather and friend who will be greatly missed by all who knew him.
Jim was born on April 26, 1952, in Guelph, to Audrey and James Kelly Sr. He was the cherished husband of Chris for almost 50 years and the loving father of Allison and her husband, Scott MacKay. Jim took great pleasure in watching them thrive and accomplish their goals in life, but his greatest joy was being a doting Grandpa to his granddaughter, Darcy.
Jim loved his pets, motorcycles, music, reading, watching sports, especially the Dallas Cowboys, long walks with the dogs, and spending time in his workshop, affectionately known as the "Jim Room." He was also famously "allergic" to vegetables. He loved family vacations, usually involving a beach or cottage, and enjoyed entertaining family and friends in the backyard and around the pool.
Jim was kind, humble, funny, hardworking and accepting of everyone. If someone needed him, he was always there to help. He was easygoing, with a sparkle in his eyes and a smile that those who knew him will always remember.
Jim was predeceased by his parents, Audrey and Jim Kelly Sr., and his brother John. He is survived by his brother-in-law Peter Gordon, as well as his nieces and nephews.
A time for family and friends to honour Jim's life will be held on Sunday, September 20, 2026, from 1-4 p.m. at Springfield Golf & Country Club, 2054 Gordon Street, Guelph, ON N1L 1G6. Please do not wear black - Jim loved colour.
In lieu of flowers, those wishing to make a donation in Jim's memory may consider the Guelph Humane Society or Hospice Wellington, two organizations that he valued.
A sincere thank you to everyone who helped in Jim's care - Dr. Will Ruddock, Dr. J. Brophy, Ontario Health at Home, the Bayshore staff Habib, Harsh, Laura, Pansy and Shelley, and the wonderful staff at Hospice Wellington.
Rest in peace, sweet man.
Please do not wear black - Jim loved colour.
