Janet Anne (nee Cross) Yaworsky

It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Janet Anne Yaworsky, on July 16, 2026, in her 80th year surrounded by her family. Born on July 7, 1946, she lived a life defined by love, family, and an immense amount of pride in her children, grandchildren and great grandchildren. She went home to be with her adoring husband George who predeceased her in Aug of 2021. A proud matriarch, Janet leaves behind a profound legacy that would be envious of most. She is survived by her three children: Robin Canning (the late Frank), Steve Bonany (Alison), and David Bonany (Julie). She was predeceased by her beloved son Christopher Bonany. Her influence will continue to be felt through her nine beloved grandchildren, Jennifer (Roger), Kimberly (Jay), Jordan, Mikayla (Jared), Daniel (Haley), Alysha (Alexander), Christopher, Joshua (Raygen), Ashley (Jacob) and thirteen cherished great-grandchildren, Jameson, Talia, Josie, Louie, Juniper, Elsie, Rory, Liliana, Wesley, Everett, Eden, Elliott and Elias, all of whom brought her immense joy. She is also survived by her brothers Hugh Cross (Kaye), Alex Cross (Ann) and many nieces and nephews. Janet was predeceased by her beloved husband George Yaworsky, her parents Leonard and Margaret Cross and a brother Len Cross.

Throughout her life, she was known for her love of Baseball, sharing a cup of coffee or a glass of wine with her family and friends and simply spending time with those she loved. Her intentionality in showing love and affection to her grandchildren has left a mark on their hearts that can never be erased. Her home was always a place of laughter, joy and great food, and she will be deeply missed by all who had the privilege of knowing her.

Visitation will be on Thursday, July 23, 2026 from 2-4 p.m. and 7-9 p.m. at the Gilbert MacIntyre & Son Funeral Home, Hart Chapel 1099 Gordon St., Guelph. A service to celebrate Janet’s life will be held on Friday, July 24, 2026 at 11a.m. in the funeral home chapel. A reception will follow in the funeral home fellowship lounge

In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made in her memory to Hospice Wellington or the Cancer Care program at Waterloo Region Health Network foundation in honour of all the people in her life affected by this disease.
