Loretta Jane Sarc

Loretta is survived by her children, Ralph (Carol) of Virginia and Elizabeth of California; sisters Betty Renaud (late Jack) of LaSalle and Mary Lou Sharpe (Dave) of Guelph; brother Bill Aiken of Wasaga Beach; and many nieces, nephews, great-nieces and nephews, and great-great-nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her parents, Wilfred and Gladys Aiken; her husband, Bill; and her siblings Nancy Ellis (John), Bob Aiken, and Pat Chapman.

Born in Sarnia and raised in Windsor, Loretta had a lifelong appreciation for beauty and style. Over the years, she put her keen eye for detail and natural creative flair to work as a milliner, creating beautiful hats, in a men’s haberdashery, and later as an interior decorator.

In 1966, the family moved to Michigan, where Loretta would spend nearly three decades. Loretta returned to Canada in 1993 and settled at Pine Meadows near Belwood, where she put her decorating talents to work beautifying the community clubhouse and library. She could walk into almost any room, see what it needed, and make it better.

Loretta had an unmistakable sense of style. She loved beautiful clothing and her accessories were always just right—her shoes and purse always matched, and she was rarely without a pair of her signature statement earrings. Her sizeable collection of costume jewelry ensured there was always the perfect finishing touch. A fastidious housekeeper, she brought that same attention to detail and beauty to her home and surroundings.

But it was Loretta herself who was most memorable. She was fun, creative, warm, and loving, with a wonderful sense of humour. She brought beauty, laughter, and a little sparkle wherever she went.

Heartfelt thanks go to the dedicated team at the Village of Riverside Glen, who cared for Loretta with kindness and compassion over the past seven years.

Loretta will be deeply missed and lovingly remembered.

Cremation has taken place. A small, family gathering will take place at a later date.
