It is with profound sadness that we announce the sudden passing of our much-loved wife/mother, Marjorie Joyce Kinnon (nee Kjellander), who passed away peacefully in the care of Wellington Hospice Guelph on the morning of September 21, 2023, at the age of 90. Marjorie was born on February 10, 1933, in Regina, Saskatchewan, to parents Everett Akates and Florence Theresia Kjellander. She is predeceased by her brother Willis Everett (Sky) Kjellander, his wife Hazel, sister Marilyn Virginia Kjellander, and brother Kenneth Charles Kjellander.
Marje is survived by her husband of 70 years, John (Jack) Grant Kinnon; her daughter Marilyn and son-in-law David Hutchins; daughter Tracey and son-in-law Paul Notman; Son Barry, and daughter-in-law Marilyn (Sarabura) Kinnon and son Geoff and daughter-in-law Cindy (Gray) Kinnon. Marje will be deeply missed by her 10 grandchildren: Allison Hutchins, Taryn (Alex Tanner), Talia (Brett Berry) and Payton (Jennifer Archibald) Notman, Matthew (Jennifer Hatch), Michael and Sarah Kinnon, and Alex (Lee), Meaghan, and Brendan Kinnon. Marje’s legacy will continue with great-grandchildren Finlay Kinnon and Hudson Kinnon. Marje will also be fondly remembered by surrogate grandchildren Stacy and Lee MacKay.
Marje was an avid reader, golfer, creator of beautiful crafts, long-standing devotee of the Roughriders football team and a great supporter of local hospitals and humane societies.
A private memorial service will be held at the family’s request. Donations may be made in Marje’s name to the Canadian Cancer Society, the Diabetes Association, or to the Guelph Humane Society.
The family wishes to send a special thank you to the care team at Arbour Trails, where Mom and Dad have resided for the past three years.
“How lucky I am to have something that makes saying goodbye so hard.”
