It is with profound sadness and heavy hearts that we announce the peaceful passing of Masina Filomena Sirio (Rinaldi), at the age of 95, of Guelph, Ontario, on October 12, 2026, at Omni Heritage House in St. Jacobs.
Masina was born on February 25, 1931, in Italy, to her loving parents, Antonio and Concetta Rinaldi. On December 1, 1951, she married the love of her life, Ferdinando Sirio, in Fondi, Latina, Italy. Together, they began a beautiful journey filled with love, family, hard work, and cherished memories.
In 1959, Masina and Ferdinando courageously immigrated to Canada with their young daughter, Patricia, and son, Fulvio, in search of new opportunities and a better future for their family. Their family later grew with the arrival of their youngest son, Tony.
In 1973, the family settled in Guelph, where Masina and Ferdinando became dedicated employees of Linamar. With an entrepreneurial spirit, a passion for cooking, and a love of bringing people together, they opened Angie's Pizza and Spaghetti House in 1976. Their homemade bread, pasta, pizza, and famous veal parmigiana quickly became favourites among their customers. Over the years, they proudly served countless members of the community, along with celebrities, hockey players, and musicians who came to enjoy their delicious food and warm hospitality.
For Masina and Ferdinando, Angie's was always more than just a restaurant. It was an extension of their home and family. They took great pride in treating their employees with kindness, respect, and generosity, ensuring that everyone who worked alongside them felt valued and knew they were part of the family. Through their hard work and welcoming spirit, they created not only a successful business but also lasting friendships and wonderful memories.
Above all else, Masina's greatest joy and proudest accomplishment was her family. A woman of unwavering faith, strength, and devotion, she was a loving wife, mother, nonna, sister, aunt, and dear friend to many. Her love was often expressed through the meals she lovingly prepared and the care she showed to those around her.
Sundays held a special place in Masina's heart. She treasured having her family gathered around the table, sharing delicious homemade meals, stories, laughter, and time together. Her kitchen was a place of warmth and love, where everyone was always welcome and no one ever left hungry.
When Masina became a Nonna to her two grandsons, Michael and Dante, she embraced the role with endless love and pride. She found tremendous happiness in spending time with them, creating special memories, and, of course, spoiling them every chance she had. Her grandsons brought her immeasurable joy, and the love she had for them was truly boundless.
Masina was predeceased by her beloved husband, Ferdinando; her cherished son, Fulvio; her granddaughter Natalie; her parents, Antonio and Concetta Rinaldi; and her dear sisters, Nina and Rita.
She leaves behind her loving children, Patricia (Rocco) and Tony; her treasured grandsons, Michael and Dante; and her dear sister, Giuliana. She will also be lovingly remembered by her many nieces, nephews, extended family members, and all those whose lives she touched throughout her 95 wonderful years.
Masina will be remembered for her strong faith, generous heart, remarkable work ethic, and unconditional love for her family. Her legacy lives on in the traditions she created, the meals shared around her table, the friendships she nurtured, and the countless memories that will forever be held close to the hearts of those who loved her.
The family would like to extend their heartfelt gratitude to all the wonderful staff at Omni Heritage House in St. Jacobs for the exceptional care, kindness, and compassion shown to Masina during her final years. Thank you for filling her days with laughter, friendship, warmth, and countless special moments. The friendships she formed and the love she received brought so much joy and comfort to her life. Masina certainly made her presence known and will forever be fondly remembered by the staff and residents as the beloved “Hallway Security Guard.” Her watchful eye, spirited personality, and unforgettable presence will be deeply missed by all who had the pleasure of knowing her.
Though she is no longer with us, her love will remain at the heart of our family forever.
Rest peacefully, Masina. Reunited once again with your beloved Ferdinando and Fulvio. You will be forever loved, deeply missed, and never forgotten.
The Family will receive their friends at the Gilbert MacIntyre & Son Funeral Home, Hart Chapel 1099 Gordon St., Guelph, on Monday, October 19, 2026 from 6-9 p.m. A Funeral Mass will be held at Holy Rosary Church 175 Emma St., Guelph on Tuesday, October 20, 2026 at 10:30 a.m. Entombment in Our Lady Immaculate Mausoleum, Marymount Cemetery, Guelph.
