She is lovingly remembered by her daughter Andrea (Ryan) and son Tim (Tegan); her grandchildren, Amelia and Lachlan; her siblings, Karen (Charlie) and Mike (Gail); and numerous nieces, nephews, extended family, and friends. She was predeceased by her brother, James (Geraldine).
Born on September 7, 1949, in Tweed, Ontario, Maureen carried with her, throughout her life, the values of family, community, and kindness that defined her upbringing. After moving to Toronto to pursue her education, she eventually settled in Guelph, where she raised her family and spent the remainder of her life.
A lifelong educator, Maureen found purpose and fulfillment in teaching students of all ages, from elementary school through high school, and she never truly stopped being a teacher, remaining just as devoted to her grandchildren's learning in her retirement.
Maureen had a remarkable gift for making people feel cared for. She was kind, thoughtful, generous, patient, and exceptionally social, with a gift for friendship and deep connections that lasted a lifetime. Above all, she cherished her family, and being a grandmother to Amelia and Lachlan was one of the greatest joys of her life.
The family wishes to express their heartfelt gratitude to the caregivers, healthcare professionals, and friends who provided support and comfort during her final days.
Friends will be received on Saturday, September 26 from 10:00 am to 11:30 am at Gilbert MacIntyre and Son Funeral Home, 1099 Gordon St. Guelph, followed by a Memorial Service in the chapel. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in her memory to the Canadian Cancer Society.
She will be deeply missed and forever remembered.
