Merle Elizabeth Marjorie Giffen

Merle is survived by her daughters, Brenda and Shelley, grandsons Benjamin and Brandon Victorio, sister-in-law and brother-in-law Myrna and Eric Goltz.

Predeceased by her Parents Leslie and Stella MacKinnon (nee Limebeer), Husband Warren, Brother and Sister-in-law Bill and Lois MacKinnon, Brother-in-law and Sister-in-law Herbert and Fran Giffen; Son-in-law Eddie Victorio; nephews Wayne Robinson and Evan MacKinnon

She was born in Caledon November 1, 1929, where she remained until December 11, 1954, when she married the love of her life, Norman "Warren" Giffen. They were inseparable for 63 years.

Merle and Warren began their life together at the Giffen family farm south of Caledon Village. Mid-October 1960 they re-located to Guelph where Merle and Warren worked for the family business, MacKinnon Transport, until they retired. Merle loved to tell stories about driving a transport truck for her father to the stockyards in Toronto. When the company expanded and moved to Guelph, she worked in the office.

Merle looked forward to family time, especially spending time with her grandchildren. She enjoyed camping, biking, and loved meeting people and striking up a conversation. She loved to knit and crochet and gifted many baby blankets to friends and family. Merle had a huge soft spot in her heart for animals and got so much joy when she could share her love with them.

Merle met "Don" when she was in Rehab at St Josephs in 2019. They spent countless hours together during the following years. Merle loved Don. The family appreciates Don's kindness, as well as the friendship of his family, Karen, Kirk and white shirt (aka Paul).

Thank you to her niece Julie and her friend Cathy C. for their many visits and support over the last many years.

The family also thanks the staff on O&C @ St Josephs LTC for caring for Merle during the last 3 years.

Cremation has taken place. A Celebration of Life will be held at a later date.
