Nash Jacob Ian Dunlop

It is with unimaginable sorrow that we announce the sudden and tragic passing of our beloved son, brother, grandson, nephew, cousin and friend, Nash Jacob Ian Dunlop, on September 19, 2026. Nash was just 16 years old.

Nash was the deeply loved son of Brady Dunlop and Erin Edwards, and the cherished brother and best friend of Drew Dunlop.

Nash was a truly wonderful young man. With his beautiful blue eyes, warm smile and natural ability to connect with people, he had a way of making others feel welcome, valued and comfortable in his presence. He was kind-hearted, funny and engaging, and he formed genuine friendships wherever he went.

A gifted athlete, Nash brought energy, determination and passion to everything he did. He loved basketball and was known for his athleticism, competitive spirit and commitment to his teammates. Whether competing on the court, spending time with friends or simply being himself with the people he loved, Nash brought a special presence that can never be replaced.

Nash was deeply loved by his grandparents, Jim Dunlop (“Paka”), Jan Edwards (“Nana”), Ken Edwards (“Papa”) and Ian Moncrieff (“Grandpa”), and by his late grandmothers, Roberta Dunlop and Mary Jo Dunlop.

He will be forever loved and remembered by his aunts and uncles: Sean Edwards (Kelly Helbin), Jackie Edwards (Tobin Filleter); Meg Dunlop (Tim Copeland), Jordan (Brendan Watson); Katherine Forbes and Clark Lonergan; Britney and Kjeld Knoppen; Craig McKendrick; Rika deHaas and Neil Moncrieff.

Nash also shared a special bond with his cousins: Pyper Copeland (Nick Lumley); Tadhg Copeland (Maddy McClellan); Ellis Copeland; Kate Edwards (Quenton Race); Jack Edwards; Jax Helbin; George and Elle McKendrick; Elizabeth Filleter; Isabel and Tommy Boy Watson, and Connor Moncrieff.

He will be profoundly missed by his extended family, classmates, teammates, coaches, teachers and the many wonderful friends whose lives he touched.

Nash’s family extends its heartfelt gratitude to his wonderful friends, mentors, teachers, coaches and pastors who believed in him, guided him and made such a positive and lasting impact on his life. Your encouragement, leadership and care helped shape the wonderful young man Nash became, and your influence will always be remembered.

Although Nash’s life was far too short, the love he gave, the friendships he built and the memories he created will remain with us forever. We will carry his beautiful smile, his generous heart and his spirit with us through every day ahead.

A funeral service for Nash will be held on Friday, September 25, 2026, at 11:00 a.m. at Gilbert MacIntyre & Son Funeral Home, 1099 Gordon Street, Guelph, Ontario N1G 4X9. A livestream will be available for those who are unable to attend in person.

A larger community celebration of Nash’s life will be held on Saturday, September 26, 2026, from 2:00 to 4:00 p.m. at Calvary Baptist Church, 454 Arkell Road, Puslinch, Ontario N0B 2J0. Brief remarks and shared memories will begin at 3:00 p.m.

Everyone whose life was touched by Nash or who wishes to support his family and friends is warmly invited to attend. This gathering has been planned with a special welcome for Nash’s high-school and college-aged friends, classmates, teammates and coworkers, giving young people a safe and supportive place to be together, share stories, grieve openly and find comfort in one another.

Family friends and the adults who knew and cared for Nash are equally welcome to join us as we surround Nash’s young friends—and one another—with love and support.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Nash Dunlop Memorial Fund through the Guelph Community Foundation. Created in Nash’s memory, the fund will support youth sport, particularly basketball, at John F. Ross and in the greater Guelph community.
