Rose began her career as a teacher in one-room schoolhouses in rural Alberta in 1952. During the next 18 years, Rose was a teacher and librarian in Alberta while raising her young sons. Rose and her family moved to Victoria, BC in 1970, where she worked as a homemaker, ran a small corner store, was a Board Member for the Strawberry Vale Community Centre, and volunteered for many years at the Victoria General Hospital Gift Shop. Rose and her husband moved to Ontario in 2007, where her passion for gardening was put to excellent use. Rose will be sadly missed by her family and friends. She lived her life with joy and was known for her wry wit and generosity of spirit. Memorial contributions to the Good Samaritan Society (gss.org), a charity founded by Rose's grandfather Gottlieb Wedman, in lieu of flowers would be appreciated.
