Terrence John O'Connor, 73, passed away peacefully August 6th, 2026 at Hospice Wellington surrounded by family and friends. Born March 26th, 1953 to John and Elizabeth (Liz) O'Connor in Waterloo, Terry, along with his sister Kelly and brother Rick moved to Guelph in 1967.
After graduating from John F. Ross Terry spent 37 years as a Bell Canada Service Technician, while also playing a key role in the union at Bell (CEP).
Over the years Terry spent countless hours volunteering his services to multiple causes, such as the Ontario Federation of Labour, CFRU, The Bench, and of course the New Democratic Party.
Loving father to son Ryan O'Connor and daughter Whitnee Roncato, Terry is survived by his two children as well as grandchildren Carter and Vaeda, daughter-in-law Kathleen Sou, son-in-law Mike Roncato and his siblings Kelly (niece Kristen Ward) and Rick O'Connor. As well as his union sister Janice Folk-Dawson (and countless others).
He will be missed immensely by those who knew him. From the countless kids he coached, the people he served through his work with the Labour Council and volunteer work over the years, Terry left an indelible mark on his community, family and friends.
Whether manning the Sacred Fire at Hillside, marching the streets in the name of another just cause or simply watching his grandchildren compete, laughter always followed Terry. He lived life with humility mixed with a sense of pride. To Dad, Coach, Local Water Warrior......Onwards and upwards!
A Celebration of Life for Terry is planned for the Spring. Donations can be made to Hospice Wellington in Guelph, ON in tribute to his memory.
