Urban Kubica

Dearly beloved husband of Anne (nee Fitzgerald). Loving father of Steve (Donna), Bob (Wilma van Berkel), Dave (Gayle Peters), Carolyn (Dave Galvin) and Susan (Jamie McGregor).

Proud Grandpa to Michael, Kyle, Ella, Ben, Jamie, Makena, Maya, Connor, Cole, Allison, Nate and Drew.

Born and raised in Peterborough, Urban and Anne met in high school and would have celebrated their 64th wedding anniversary on October 28, 2025.The early years of Zellers retail management saw transfers to Guelph, St. Catharines, Ottawa, Pembroke, Kitchener, and back to Guelph which has been home since 1969. After leaving Zellers, Urban went on to work in property and facilities management with A&N stores and the Community Mental Health Clinic.

Urban’s talents were many and diverse. He could fix almost anything. He loved to work with his hands and especially with wood – a talent he learned from his father. Summers spent at the family cottage always provided him with lots of projects.

Urban’s dedication to his faith and devotion to his family were unwavering.

Our thanks to the staff at St. Joseph’s Adult Day Program which he enjoyed immensely these last eight months. You are all amazing! Thanks also to the staff at GGH and Hospice Wellington for your special care.

The funeral Mass will take place at St. Joseph Catholic Church, 409 Paisley Road on November 8, 2025 at 11 a.m. The family invites you to join us at St. Joseph's School immediately following Mass (approximately 12 noon) for a reception and celebration of life.

Entombment of ashes at Marymount Cemetery will take place at a later date.

For those who wish, memorial donations to Hospice Wellington, St. Joseph’s Health Foundation or the charity of your choice would be sincerely appreciated by the family.
