Vittorio Marra

It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Vittorio Marra. Vittorio died peacefully in Italy, on October 16, 2026 at the age of 84. Son of Michele Marra and Marianna Califano, Vittorio was born in the town of Sessano, Italy on July 22, 1942. He grew up with his brothers Salvatore and Guerino, whom he cherished until the day of his passing, and was fortunate to be a part of a larger extended family. He is lovingly remembered by his wife of 51 years, Linda, his children Michael (Marina) and Stephanie (Mike) and his grandchildren Alessio, Marino, Valentina, Layla, Aria, Mikaia, and predeceased by Siena.

Vittorio spent most of his life in Montreal, where he raised his family. Here, he worked in the travel industry, the majority of the time for Swissair. He loved this industry, and the people he met within it. One of the greatest joys it allowed him was to often bring his family to the village where he grew up, Colli a Volturno.

Vittorio lived his life to the fullest, with integrity and connection to others as his driving forces. Nothing in this world was more important to him than his family. His wife, children, grandchildren, nieces and nephews, were the centre of his life, and he would speak of them to anyone who would listen. The friendships he nurtured were every bit as meaningful and enduring. Many of these friendships were formed on the golf course, his favourite retirement pastime. To gather with people he loved, around a table with good food, lively conversation, and a glass of wine was where he was happiest. Vittorio will always be remembered fondly by those at the table with him.

The family will receive at Gilbert MacIntyre and Son Funeral Home, Hart Chapel, 1099 Gordon Street, Guelph on Saturday, November 7th, 2026 from 1 – 2 p.m. A memorial service will be held in the funeral home chapel at 2 p.m. Reception to follow.

In lieu of flowers, donations to the Heart and Stroke Foundation would be appreciated by the family.
