Predeceased by his parents, Lewis Hillson and Elsie Hillson (Tilcox). Beloved husband of Linda Hillson (Colley), with whom he shared 70 wonderful years together, 60 of them as husband and wife. Loving father of Matthew Hillson, Brooke Hillson (Alan Mason), and Tom Hillson (Carly Cain). Cherished grandad of Angelica Hillson, Lewis Mason, Edison Hillson, and Johnny Hillson.
Wayne spent his career as a Chartered Accountant, growing his own practice, W.G. Hillson Chartered Accountant, later Hillson & Company Chartered Accountants. He loved every bit of it, in particular the people, from his staff to his clients. People were his energy, and he loved helping them in whatever way he could. Growing up, he was passionate about baseball, football and hockey, a love he carried through over the years, culminating with the same Old Timer's hockey crew every Friday afternoon at 4pm. He also had a great love of animals, with many family dogs over the years, but none more cherished than his dog, Mike.
He also loved to play pranks and gave as good as he got. Above all, he loved being surrounded by friends and family, the more the merrier, while having a glass of wine. He will be missed dearly by all who knew him.
Arrangements entrusted to Gilbert MacIntyre & Son Hart Chapel, 1099 Gordon St, Guelph. Visitation will be held on August 5, 2026, from 2:00-4:00 pm and 7:00-9:00 pm. A Celebration of Life will take place at the funeral home on August 6, 2026, at 11:00am. Reception to follow.
