Devoted father to Lyndy Edwards, Ian Coats (Laurie), Don Coats (Susanne), Karen Kitching (Jay) and Kathy Coats (Harold). Caring grandfather to Lindsay (Iain), Taryn (Austin), Rachael (Brandon), Nicola, Alanna, Pamela (Nick), and Jessica. Proud great-grandfather to 3 great-grandchildren. Will be missed by sister-in-law Diane. Predeceased by his loving wife Gloria, sister Mary, and daughter-in-law Paula. Bill will be remembered by many extended family and friends.
Bill was a loving and devoted father, math teacher at Acton High School for over 25 years, and a valued member of his community. His love of finance led him to start a store (The Closet) at Acton High, serve as treasurer at St. Jacobs Meadows and at his church and work at the General Store at Arbour Trails. Bridge was a big part of Bill’s life. He was active in the bridge community, ran a family bridge club, and worked at bridge tournaments for many years. Bill treasured his time at the family cottage on Kahshe Lake, especially the special moments spent teaching his granddaughters how to fish, which they will treasure always.
Arrangements entrusted to Gilbert MacIntyre & Son Funeral Home, Hart Chapel, 1099 Gordon St, Guelph, ON. Visitation will take place on Sunday September 13, 2026, from 10:00-11:00AM. A Celebration of Life Ceremony will immediately follow in the funeral home chapel at 11:00AM. Reception to follow.
