It is with great sadness we announce the death of Dr. Aidan Stokes on October 1st, 2026. In keeping with his expressed wish, he died peacefully at home, surrounded by his immediate family. Aidan coped in the last year of his life with a debilitating condition which sapped his strength but never his spirit. Until the very end he maintained his interest and involvement in the world around him and retained his unique sense of humour, even in the midst of some harrowing times.
Predeceased by his sister Patricia and brothers Teddy, Billy and Sandy. Aidan will be lovingly remembered by his wife Aileen, son Edmond, daughter Hilary, daughter-in-law Jennifer and grandson Michael. He will be sadly missed by his sisters Mary and Sally, his brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law, as well as his many nephews, nieces, relatives, and friends.
Visitation will be held at J.A. Snow Funeral Home, 339 Lacewood Drive, Halifax, on Wednesday, October 7, from 5:00 to 8:00 p.m. Funeral to be held at St. Thomas Aquinas, 1725 Oxford Street, Halifax on Thursday, October 8th at 11:00 a.m.
Aidan endured a variety of ailments in the last years of his life. The family would like to thank the dedicated doctors and nurses who worked to make his last days peaceful. A special thank you to his home carers Joanne, Preema, Abby, Myra, Agana and Allen.
