It is with great sadness that we announce the peaceful passing of our loving husband, father, brother, uncle, grandfather and great-grandfather and friend on January 17th , surrounded by his loved ones at the Abbie Lane, Geriatrics Unit. Born March 14th 1932 in Garnish, Newfoundland, he was the son of Maxwell and Edith Grandy (Moulton). He worked with Dominion/IGA over 40 years, starting as a buggy boy and in 1963, moving his family to Bridgewater, opening a brand new store, starting his managing career, While there, he joined the volunteer fire department and he and Lorraine made many lifelong friends. He was a member of the Masonic Lodge for over 60 years. A long-time member of St. Paul’s United Church in Spryfield, where he spent many hours planning and working church suppers. Other volunteer efforts included, The Missions to Seafarers. After retirement he took on roles as an extra in movies with Tom Selleck, among others. He ushered at the Metro Centre and greeted cruise ship visitors. He was an avid fisherman and sports fan following the Blue Jays and Maple Leafs. While not on the water fishing, he could be found in his flower and vegetable gardens or in the kitchen making pickles, soups, beans or goulash with Lorraine. They enjoyed the opportunity to travel around the world with their IGA family. Arch donated to many charities throughout the years and in the spirit of giving, his final donation was to the Maritime Brain Tissue Bank. He would be proud knowing his donation would further research to one day, find a cure for Dementia/Alzheimers. Survived by his loving wife, Lorraine (Moulton) of 66 years; daughters, Beverley Hubley (Willie), Norma Hippern (Donnie), Yvonne (Bonnie) Porter(Kevin); sister, Myra Freeborne and brother, Stanley Grandy (Elaine) all of Halifax. Grandchildren, Mark (Catherine), Terren (Jeff), Adam (Erika), Jaclyn, Ryan (Gina); step grandchildren, Jillian (Evan), Alex (Alyssa); great grandchildren, Mora, Jase, Anson, Gabriella, Elliott, Nyah, Ashlyn and Klara. Many nieces, nephews and their families. Predeceased by his parents, Maxwell and Edith Grandy; father and mother-in-law, Fred and Pearl Moulton; brother and sister-in-law, Albert and Ruth Moulton; sister-in-law, Norma Wiscombe and brother-in-law, Bill Wiscombe. Visitation will take place at J.A. Snow Funeral Home, 339 Lacewood Dr., Halifax, on Thursday January 24th, 6pm-8pm. Service in the Funeral Home Chapel on Friday, January 25th, 10 am, with a reception to follow. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made in Arch's memory to The Alzheimer’s Society, The IWK or charity of choice.
