What’s in a name? Although we shared a common surname we discovered the bond we shared was through our volunteer work with the UELAC. No matter which Branch she served, I was always confident that Alma would give 110% in honour of our Loyalist ancestors.

Very saddened to learn earlier today of Alma's passing. When I first met her she was the Branch Secretary of the Nova Scotia Branch of the United Empire Loyalists' Association of Canada. (UELAC). I succeeded her in that role. She had joined Heritage Branch of UELAC when living in Montreal. Upon settling in the Halifax area she became involved in the Branch there and was a strong supporter for many years helping to organize and participate in events and meetings. I especially remember her as someone who never missed a meeting she could make and always tried to be encouraging, supportive, and helpful.

Sincerely,
Brian McConnell, UE
