It is with great sorrow that we announce the passing of our beloved mother after a short illness. Born in Inverness, she is the daughter of the late Murdock and Eva (Price) Skinner.
She is pre deceased by her husband, Charman, and infant son, Charles Edward, as well as sister Sadie Piorier and brothers Basil, Earl, Everett, Robert, Albert, Ernest.
She is survived by her sons David (Carolyn) and Ian (Sandra), grandchildren Benjamin, and Alison (Ryan Young), and great grandson, Andrew James, and sister Phyllis, as well as many beloved nieces and nephews.
Nothing made Anita prouder than being a nurse and her family. She treasured the Sunday suppers when her boys, and their cousins attending university would gather and catch up with their busy lives. Her life was rich with friendships, and activities having been long standing member at the Halifax Curling Club, and Ashburn Golf Course. Music also played an important role in her life and was singing to the end. She was a member of the St. James choir for over 50 years and lived for their Thursday night rehearsals! It brought her such joy and comfort. Anita also gave back to her community, volunteering for many organizations, such as the Canadian Cancer Society.
The family would like to extend special thanks to the care workers at Parkland at the Gardens, for their care and compassion over the last few months. We would also like to express our love and deep appreciation for nieces Valerie Poirier, Lorraine Williston, and Arlyn Skinner for always taking time to visit and care for her in our absence. Valerie, she always said you were the daughter she never had!
Visitation will take place on Friday November 4th from 6-8pm with a service to follow on Saturday November 5th at 10am all in J A Snow Funeral Home, 339 Lacewood drive, Halifax. in lieu of flowers, donations to the Canadian Cancer
