The death of Anne MacMillan (age 81) occurred at her home, during the early morning hours on September 24, 2022. Anne was born in St. Stephen, NB to parents Pauline (McGarry) and Thomas Mellor. She attended school in Moncton, NB and Truro, NS.
Anne loved life and people. She was always involved in church and community from an early age.
She graduated from Victoria General Hospital, Class of 1962, as a Registered Nurse. She taught students at Victoria General Hospital, School of Nursing and served as President of the Nurses Alumni Association.
Anne and Alex were married at Saint Mary’s Basilica in 1964 and spent the next five decades with their wonderful daughters Pam and Debbie, building wonderful memories, sharing Sunday night suppers, Christmas and summer vacations with them and their families.
In the community she was very interested in Municipal development for the Ward 12 Association of Halifax.
Anne’s faith was the cornerstone of who she was. In her parishes, Our Lady of Perpetual Help and later amalgamated St. Benedict, she served as President of CWL and Parish Council. Music played a large part of her life, both with piano and organ. She spent many years as a church organist at both parishes. Other committees of involvement were with Archbishop James Hayes Pastoral Planning Committee. Her last active chair was for the Grief Support Group at Saint Benedict Parish.
Anne is especially grateful for the last 60 years of excellent medical care due to the chronic disease, Lupus. A very grateful thank you to Dr. Robert Brown and Dr. Allison Woodbury and the staff at Duffus Medical Centre. Thank you also to Dr. John Hanly and Dr. Alexandra Legge, Rheumatology.
