Arthur Walter Castel

It is with great sadness we announce the death of Arthur (Art) Castel (Dad, Papa) of Halifax, Nova Scotia at the age of 88 on October 4th at the Dartmouth General Hospital surrounded by family members.

He was born in Halifax and lived his whole life in the HRM where he worked for 45 years at Cummins Diesel, retiring in 2001. As he always liked to keep busy, after his retirement he drove a school bus for an additional 10 years. He was 4th Degree in the Knights of Columbus and a member of The Forester’s Camping Group. He loved camping, traveling, and spending time with his family which he cherished.

He is survived by his devoted wife of 58 years, Shirley; daughter, Lisa Giordani (Ricardo); son Dennis; daughter-in-law, Kathy MacDonald; grandchildren, Shelby, Alicia, Angelina, Victoria, and Brianna; great grandchildren, Carter and Colton.

He was predeceased by his parents, Kathleen and Walter; son, Darrell; and sister, Sylvia (Reg) Johnson.

Funeral Service will be held on Tuesday, October 13th at J.A. Snow Funeral Home, 339 Lacewood Drive at 2pm. Reception to follow.

In lieu of flowers, donations in Art’s memory may be made to the Alzheimer Society or the Heart and Stroke Foundation.
