Bertram Grandy

Bertram Grandy, beloved husband, father, brother, and grandfather, born August 3, 1943 in Garnish, Newfoundland passed peacefully surrounded by family on May 2, 2023 in Halifax, Nova Scotia. Bert left Newfoundland for Halifax at age 17 and met the love of his life, Kathleen (Kay), shortly after. Bert and Kay were married on May 2, 1964 and were still in love almost 6 decades later; Bert said goodbye to his family on their 59th wedding anniversary. Bert is predeceased by his parents, William George and Roberta (Mete) Grandy and son Terrance (Terry), who passed in 1983 at the age of 18. Bert and Terry are now reunited and having a great old chat. Left to cherish the wonderful memories are wife Kay, loving daughter Joanne (Rodney), grandson Michael (Jennifer), granddaughter Melissa (Senna), sister Millie(Ernie), brother Rick (Karen), and many nieces and nephews who loved their Uncle Bert. Bert worked as a Commissionaire until August 2022, previously at Ben’s Bakery for 30 years. He spent many great years travelling to Newfoundland and absolutely loved his cottage in Chester Grant. He spent many great times with his family, especially with his grandchildren which he loved beyond measure and would do anything for. Bert was the best dad and grandfather anyone could ever ask for and he was so proud of his family. Bert’s family meant world to him and he most enjoyed the simple things in life like home cooked meals, music, dogs, and his cat. Rest easy and know you are so loved and will never be forgotten, until we meet again - it’s not goodbye, it’s see ya soon.
