Bonnie Lee Spinney

Bonnie lived a life marked by determination, generosity, love and an unwavering faith. She was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, sister, and friend whose acts of kindness and faithful service touched many lives.

She leaves behind her loving husband, Robert ("Bob"); her sons Derek (Jacquelynn) and Trevor (Janine); her daughter-in-law Katherine; her grandchildren Joshua (Rebecca), Chloe, Nevaeh, Jacob, Avery, Asher, and Cohen; her great grandchildren Bennett and Daisy; 

her brothers Raymond (Becky) and Rick (Keven); along with many nieces, nephews, extended family members, and many dear friends. She was predeceased by her loved son, Darren; her parents, Arnold and Bessie; her brother, Eric; and her sister-in-law, Debbie. 

Bonnie was known for her caring heart, strong work ethic, and entrepreneurial spirit. Throughout her life she embraced opportunities to serve others. She attended nursing school before serving her community as a driver with the Red Cross. She later worked in administration with the Royal Bank, the IWK Emergency Department, and a Family Physician office. Her creativity and love of people led her to build her own businesses. Through Creative Circle, she shared her passion for needlepoint and brought people together through home parties. Later, she fulfilled another dream by opening her own sewing retail store, Sew with Vision. In every role, Bonnie's encouragement, and genuine care for others made a lasting impression. 

Bonnie was a friend to many. She had a remarkable ability to make people feel welcome, valued, and loved. Whether through many coffee conversations, a helping hand, a creative project, or making quilts, she invested deeply in the lives of those around her.

Above all, Bonnie's life was anchored in her faith. Not every day was a great day, but every day was a good day with God. Through her faithful service to Jesus Christ and her many years as an engaged member of Faith City Church, she touched the lives of all of us. She demonstrated Christ's love through her service, generosity, encouragement, and compassion. Her faith shaped the way she lived and the legacy she leaves behind. While her family and friends grieve her passing, they find comfort in the hope and promise of eternal life through Jesus Christ. Bonnie's love, faith, perseverance, and example will continue to inspire all who were blessed to know her. She will be deeply missed and forever remembered. 

A Celebration of Life will be held on Friday, August 21, 2026, 1 pm, at Faith City Church, 6225 Summit Street, Halifax, Nova Scotia. 

In honour of Bonnie's life, we remember the words of Scripture:

"I have fought the good fight, I have finished the race, I have kept the faith. Now there is in store for me the crown of righteousness, which the Lord, the righteous Judge, will award to me on that day..."2 Timothy 4:7–8
