If you couldn’t find Carol, she was likely strolling the aisles of Winners or laughing with a friend at a coffee shop. She would pick up and go anywhere at the drop of a hat. Carol wholeheartedly believed that a Peanut Buster Parfait for supper was therapeutic, and, that the clams and chips at the beach canteen should never ever be strips.
Born at the end of a dirt road by the ocean, the ocean maintained a priority position in all her life. Many early mornings we spent on a foggy beach, her children shivering wrapped in towels. Carol always believed the fog would lift. It usually did.
Her family home in Ostera Lake, NS was a busy spot. Her parents, Arthur Williams and Sadie McKinnon Williams had six children. Carol always had a great tale of her early years, she was usually the culprit of any sibling crimes committed.
After leaving school, Carol and her sister Maxine were off to the big city like Laverne and Shirley. She worked at The Royal Bank on Spring Garden Road until Roger came along. Much to her dismay at first, Roger Hartling and his new wife were off to Bridgewater where she would raise her kids for the next couple of decades. Not such a bad gig, she was a whimsical mom who was often sharing a laugh with the houseful of her kids’ friends who were usually around.
Carol leaves behind her husband Roger (Halifax), three children, Michael Bryan Williams (Bridgewater), Kimberley Ann Burgos (Halifax) and Scott Arthur Hartling (Bridgewater), and six grandchildren, Cody Williams (Michael), Hannah and Olivia Burgos (Kim) and Max, Amy and Mia Hartling (Scott)
Special thanks to Carla Clarke, SW and the caregivers at Parkstone who did their very best in a difficult situation.
