FITZNER, Claire Louise – 49, of Halifax. Determined until the end, Claire left this life after a tenacious battle with cancer. Throughout her illness, she displayed courage, humour and kindness, communicating always her love of life, family and good friends. Born in Halifax, Claire attended St. Patrick’s High School and Saint Mary’s University part time. She completed her Fellowship of Canadian Insurance Professional designation in 1999. She worked in the insurance industry for 25 years in Halifax. Her friends and colleagues at Intact Insurance will miss her dedication, volunteerism and joie de vivre. She was a committed fundraiser for the Women In Cancer Crusade (WICC). Claire was a devoted mother, loyal daughter, sibling, aunt and friend who saw the good in everyone and everything. Claire loved being part of a big family, always at the heart of many family celebrations over the years. Her warm smile will be missed by all who knew her. Claire had an incredible circle of close friends who shared the good and the challenging times over the last eight years. She enjoyed preparing beautiful meals, sharing a glass of wine or dancing at the Shore Club. To know her was to love her. As a traveller, there were many places left for Claire to visit; the trek with her brother Paul in 2009 to the Camino Trail was truly a highlight. Claire is survived by her children, Victoria Ellen Sullivan (Tori) and Matthew Thomas Sullivan (Matt), her parents Stan and Teresa Fitzner all of Halifax and her siblings Diane Breen (Mike), Patrick (Roberta), Bruce (Angela), Paul, Peter (Shari). There are many nieces and nephews who will miss Claire’s love of life including: Danny, Steven, Julia, Stephanie, Courtney, Lisa, Greg, Luke and Emily. Special thanks for the love and support of the Sullivan Family who meant so much to Claire. Special thanks also to the Palliative Care team on 7A at the VG who made Claire’s final days so comfortable. Visitation will be held at J.A. Snow Funeral Home, 339 Lacewood Dr., Halifax (902) 455-0531, from 2-4 & 6-8pm on Tuesday September 27th. Funeral Mass will be held at St. Agnes Catholic Church, Mumford Rd., Halifax at 10:00am on Wednesday September 28th. Interment at St. John’s Cemetery.
