

O'LAUGHLIN, Clifford Gordon — 82, of Halifax, passed away after a brief illness, Sunday, November 15, 2009. Cliff was a leader in the stationery business, forming the foundation for today's industry. He started his career with Mahon's Stationery as the accountant becoming a partner and eventually owning and managing the company. He was the founding president of Nova Scotia Office Products Association, served as a director for Canada Office Products Association, he was also the founder of O.S.O.S. Canada and Business Basics Canada. He retired in 1992 from the stationary business, but certainly not from life. As an active member in his community he was chairman of Spring Garden Area Business Assoc., a lifelong member of the Knights of Columbus, Halifax North West Rotary Club and the Charitable Irish Society. Cliff's happiest times were spent at family gatherings. He loved to talk which made it easy for him to make many friends over the years. In the short time he was at Cameron House he became a regular at all social events. He is survived by his wife, Jacqueline(Preston); his children, Clifford (Leanne), Dartmouth; Deborah, Victoria, B.C.; Heather (Dean), Hammonds Plains; Adele, Victoria, B.C.; his grandchildren, Dylan, Nicole, Patrick, Paul, Geoffrey and Alex. Also remembered by his great-grandchildren, Marshall, Carter, Devlin, Sydnei. He is also survived by his sister, Margaret Murphy in Winnipeg. Visitation will be from 2-4 and 6-8 p.m. today in J.A. Snow Funeral Home, Lacewood Dr., Clayton Park. Funeral Services with be held on Wednesday, November 18, at 10 a.m., St. Agnes Church, Mumford Road, Halifax. A private family memorial service will take place for his internment following cremation. In lieu of flowers, for those wishing to make donations can contribute to the Multiple Sclerosis Society, Atlantic Division or charity of choice. The family would like to thank all of Cliff's family, friends and colleagues for their love and friendship during his lifetime, as well as to the kindness, compassion and understanding of the nurses and doctors in emergency and 8.2 of the Halifax Infirmary, QEII.
