Colby Gerald Longmire

Colby was deeply devoted to his family and had never been happier. He was madly in love with his soulmate and best friend of 11 years, Cassidy-Rae Creelman. Together, they built a beautiful life, affectionately calling each other Minnie and Mickey and becoming parents to 14-month-old twins, Adler and Lincoln Longmire. Colby held nothing dearer than his two little boys. He called them his “world.”

Blue-eyed and with a full head of blonde hair, Colby skated into this world on July 5, 1989 in Digby, Nova Scotia, to proud parents Cheryl and the late Bradley Longmire. A highly skilled hockey player, he grew up in rinks around the province and later competed at the junior level in Nova Scotia and Maine.

He was extremely close to his mom Cheryl and little sister Fallon. The three of them were a tight unit that they called their ‘Ohana, a Hawaiian term for family and a reference to their shared love and family vacations to Walt Disney World. Colby was a protective and proud older brother who loved to make his sister laugh. A caring son, he met his mom every week for a bite to eat and reveled in watching Adler and Lincoln spend time with her, too. He leaned on her through the ups and downs in life. He never said goodbye without saying “I love you.”

Colby was quick-witted, charming, and genuinely fun. He loved to tease and joke with the people he cared about. Fiercely loyal and remarkably knowledgeable, he could talk at length about everything from politics to watches. He possessed an almost supernatural gift for bringing laughter and comfort to people when they needed it most.

He had a successful career in wealth management, operating by the rule that he’d never recommend anything he wouldn’t trust for his own grammie.

Sports were a huge part of his life. He made lifelong friends on the ice and took immense pride in coaching youth hockey. He looked forward to the day he could be on the bench for his sons, whom he taught to hold a hockey stick before they could walk and proudly called his "little NHL players." His family will forever remain his biggest fans.

Colby was a family man to his core, giving his unwavering love and heart to them. He and Cassidy made memories out of everything, from their quiet everyday routine to their biggest milestones. They discovered new breweries, went for car rides and attended church as a family on Sunday mornings. They shared a competitive spirit over games of crib, loved tossing a baseball or football back and forth, going to the movies, being outside with their sons, and snuggling their dog Evie close at night. Colby slid right into the Creelman family, too. He never missed a chance to thank his mother-in-law “Mama C” for her help with the twins. He respected and confided in his father-in-law and he had unique bonds with both his “little brother” and sister-in-law.

Everything changed when he became a father. He loved his twin boys deeply. He greeted them every morning saying, “Hi, smiles,” or, “Hello, my sons,” and he could make them uncontrollably giggle like no one else. Alone with them for the night, he would yell out, “It’s ba-ba-ba-ba BOYS NIGHT!” He was so playful, lifting them over his head like a hat and calling them “chapeaux bros,” or counting down from 10 and blasting them off into the air in his arms.

His favourite family Disney quote – “’Ohana means family. Family means nobody gets left behind or forgotten” – rings true. He will never be forgotten and will forever be carried in the hearts of those he loved.

He is predeceased by his father Bradley Longmire. He is survived by his wife Cassidy-Rae Creelman; sons Adler and Lincoln Longmire; mother Cheryl Longmire and stepfather Neville Elms; sister Fallon Longmire and brother-in-law Jason Philippe; along with cherished grandparents, aunts, uncles, cousins, and lifelong friends.

A celebration of life will be planned at a later date.
