I tried to post this morning but I guess it didnt work,not sure why, all my others worked first try. Didnt sleep much last night all i thought about was you and all the memories I have of you,lots of good one and some bad. Glad I was there for you through everything you know id still be there if I only had the chance, id give up everything to have you back home with us.
Looking out my window I see my boat and remember the look on your face when we picked up yours at Phils you were so happy and proud to have your own boat. I still remember that smile when you first saw it, it was cold and raining a bit but you lite up that lot like a Christmas tree with your smile. I was looking at your pics today and was thinking what a handsome man you are and that you have some great friends. Your wall is full of RIP Cory from your friends they still love you like crazy and miss you too. Dina and I are going to fish a tournament this Sunday and we are going to win it for you.  And yes she did out fish me in the last one just like you used to do all the time.
She isnt the fisherman you are but she is learning. Still wish we were fishing tournaments together, we had a time.
So today is my last entry but ill never forget you or ever stop missing you or loving you. You are best in every way.

I spent a sleepless night and when I did fall asleep I dreamt about you and the family. I kept wondering what I would write about. I also read the book "Heaven is for Real" and I have no doubts that there is a Heaven and that is where you are with Rick, Granny Grunt and Boppa (Grandpa).Harold and I went to Mass this morning to pray for you on your first anniversary of your leaving us.
I do know that Margaret and I are eternally grateful to you for teaching Nan things about the computer because when we have a problem we call Nan and she saves us a lot of Computer Consulting fees. We're just afraid that the way the economy is that one of these days we are going to get a bill from your Nan.Anyway, Cory, I will close for now. You are gone but not forgotten. You will always be remembered in our thoughts and our prayers.

This is my last entry; not sure if you were trying to tell us something in the middle of the night with that computer screen turning on and shining on us so brightly or with Lulu at the back door this morning looking in. Somehow, I think you were. Maybe, you know how I feel today; how we are all feeling and you were trying to let us know that you are okay. 
I love you hunny and miss you terribly, I can't even write this without crying, but I know you would want me to stop, as you hated seeing us cry, so if for that reason alone, I will try to stop.
Thanks for being who you were and for thinking of me the way you did and telling me how you felt about me. You were so special to me in so many ways, I would have done anything for you.

Cory, today marks the first anniversary of your leaving us. Not a great day, but the sun is supposed to shine, so may be that will be a sign that you are well and safe. 

Thanks to your good girl Melissa, I just read a non-fiction book "Heaven is For Real", the life-death experience of a small child. I am now more assured that you are in a much better place, living a disease-free life and suspect you're helping to run the show. I'm never saying goodbye to you, you'll always be in my heart and mind, but this book closes tomorrow and this is my final entry. Rest well with the angels my precious grandson, and we'll meet again some day. As I said, save me a good spot. I love you and miss you.

Today is the last time ill get to tell you how much I miss you and love you.
I didnt sleep much last night. I spent it thinking of you. My heart is killing me today cuz there is a piece missing, you are that piece. I just want to go back to bed and stay there forever but I know you would be saying Old Man stop your crap and go to work, so ill go but only cuz it will keep me from thinking to much and crying. I think I have cried every day since you have gone and im sure ill cry every day till I die this pain is so bad, now I know how other parents have felt when they lost there child. Its  bad very bad feeling to have.
Dina and i are going to fish a tournament this weekend and we are going to win it for you.
She isnt as good a fisherman as you but she still can out fish me just like you did most of the time. Dam I miss those days, I miss every day we had together.

Tomorrow marks the year. I'm feeling so sad this morning and all I can think of is you, just how wonderful and wise you were. When I get worried about something, or just can't make a decision, I often say to myself - what would Cory tell me to do - the first thing that comes to mind is "for the love of God, Nan, stop worrying, it is what it is", and most times that pushes me on to solve the problem or let it go. Your life was much too short, but you packed so much wisdom and knowledge into it - what you left all of us was a legacy of strength, bravery and determination to just get going when the going gets tough.

Your Granny Grunt had much of the same wisdom - allow yourself to fret over it for a certain amount of time, then put it away, 'cause tomorrow, it'll probably be gone with something else to take its place. How true that always was. 

I know that you are safe in the "love of God" and I know you're saving a special seat for all of us left behind. I have no doubt that you are watching over us and may be it is in the form of Lulu. What a wonderful world this would be if we had the faith of children. 

As I always told you, my heart soared with love when I first met you and my heart aches with love when I think of you now. There's a big empty hole and some days I have a hard time climbing out - you are my inspiration still to just get on with it, hard though it may be. 

My precious child, I will meet you again some day, save me a good seat and big wings.

Been thinking about you a lot this month, with the anniversary of your passing

I have your picture in a frame on my desk at work, " My Mr Wonderful",  a friend from work gave it to me 
to torment me on my quest to find my Mr Wonderful.  His first grandchild was born the day you died...it reminded me of something my aunt use to say " For every soul that departs this earth, one arrives on this earth" 

Cory, you have been such an inspiration to so many, young and old.  You have left such an impression on those of us who knew you. I don't think you would have ever known what a legacy you left behind for such a young man.  I miss seeing you or hearing Chad telling me what you and he may have been up to.  I know he misses you !  Billy use to tell me how you took him under your wing and taught him to be an exceptional Irving employee, not as good as you, of course.  I miss our chats when I use to pick him up.  The Irving definitely isn't the same ! I remember how you would keep sending me positive thoughts when Chad was in Afghanistan; he was fighting one battle and you another. 

My thoughts go to your family, I know they are the ones that miss you the most.  I hope they can find comfort  in knowing that you are one young man that so many of us won't forget.

I feel like I am in a panic writing on here because in a few days I won’t be able to. 
I promise this will be my last one, maybe;) I try to hide my emotions to be strong for your dad, but it’s hard. Lucas and Calista see your father and I upset at times and they just don’t understand. When you left us, Lucas told us not to worry because you would be coming back around us as an animal, and he said “I am pretty sure it will be a little doggy”. I think it was the day after you had passed away, a pizza delivery man found a puppy on the side of the road and when he delivered our pizza he brought us the puppy. He said it was right in front of his car on the road and wouldn’t move and he didn’t know what to do, so he brought it to us. Well, that was it, Lucas and Calista said, “we told you he would come back as a little doggy and here he is. Can we keep him?” We all looked at each other in disbelief. Well, it ended up being a new little puppy the girl next door just got for her Birthday, the name of that little beagle was Lulu. So, now every time Calista sees us sad, she says, “I still don’t understand why you are upset, Cory is still here with us, he is an animal, he is Lulu next door.” Lulu comes to our yard frequently and Lucas and Calista play with her all the time. Calista gets frustrated sometimes because Lulu either comes right up to her or teases her by running around her, sounds like something you would do. You loved teasing her, when you were up to it and she loved teasing you back. I really do believe they think Lulu is you. She is a “Beagle” after all. Maybe children know better than us, who knows, but somehow I find comfort in it. 
The next few days will be harder than usual; we will be thinking of you this weekend, while your father and I are out fishing, the peace will hopefully do us some good.

I feel I have to write, just to say a final goodbye to you. I know we weren’t super close, but every time we did hang out, I admired your wisdom and enjoyed your jokes. You were so wise beyond your years, and you were definitely a fighter, you fought SO hard. I’ll never forget that about you, you been through so much in your lifetime, but still had a bright, positive outlook on things. My best memory of you was our trip to Montreal, I’m so glad I got to spend more time with you and get to know you better. It was a great trip with great friends, and though we’ve all drifted since then, we all have that memory to share, I know you haven’t forgotten about it either, especially since the highlight of the trip for you was the Montreal Canadiens game! (Mine was the Spice girls concert, totally not your thing!). You were such a humorous person, and I admire you so much for that, you were always prepared with a joke or a laugh or a hilarious comment, something I’m not sure if I could do if I’d been through as much as you. I didn’t know your family well but I know they are just as strong as you, by your side your whole life through everything and I know you are watching over them, making sure “Trevor” (“Wait, his names not Trevor? Oh! Cory & Trevor, I GET it!”) and the rest of the family are doing well. You will live on forever in the hearts of all of your family and friends, you will never be forgotten. Thank you for your friendship, laughter and strength Cory.

It will be a year in two day's  since you left me and it feels just like yesterday I got the call saying you were gone. The pain, the hurt the missing you hasn't gotten any better. I think of you all the time no matter what I'm doing or where I'm at, wishing you where here doing it with me. Nothing is the same anymore now that your gone. I'd give anything to have you hear. I know I'm being selfish but I don't  care I just want you back home where you belong in my house with me. 
Nick has moved out and even though I get to see him everyday at work I still miss him not being hear, its not the same without my boys with me. Your legacy page comes off on the 17th so I guess I'll have to find another way to vent when I'm down, I know you can't see this but I don't know what else to do. I know you wouldn't want us crying all the time over you but its impossible, the pain hurts so bad at times I just cant help it. I remember when you first met Dina's parents and when you left her father kept saying "He's a beautiful boy, He's a beautiful boy" he was right,and everyday I look at your picture all I see is my beautiful boy and wish you were still hear. I am dreading the 16th it's gonna be a miserable day even worse than most.
All I know is it's never gonna be the same around hear with out you. I miss you so much and who knows maybe we are wrong and I'll get to see you again but that day is far away, so I guess I'll just have to go on missing my Son, my friend , my fishing partner and my inspiration. You were truly a very wise man Cory for only being 22.

Can't stop thinking about you, as your anniversary approaches, you lay heavy on my heart. I do have a little bone to pick with you though. If there is any way you can hear us, you would have heard my comments as I was using that Dyson vacuum cleaner you made your father buy. Every time I use it, I think of you. Then last night, a commercial came on for a new type of oscillating fan made by "The Dyson" manufacturers. You would have talked our ears off about that fan. I would have loved to see that little argument between you and your father, but you know who would have won, YOU. Your father would have gone out that same day to get it for you. You guys were so funny to watch, I miss it... I miss all of it.

Cory,I haven't written in quite a while but your anniversary is coming up and I thought I would drop you a note. Losing Ricky was also devastating to all of us but we know that you and he are together and hopefully you have been introduced to Grandpa Cosgrove and are both teasing Granny Grunt.I saw Nan and your father at Rick's services and met Dina for the first time. She is one of the sweetest ladies I ever met and she is the best thing that ever happened to your father. She is there for him through the good and the rough times and you can see the love she has for him.Goodbye for now and we will all be together again some day. Cory, I never had the pleasure to meet your but knew you Nan and Dad over the years.  I have looked at the web page nearly every day since you have passed and can't believe how much you were loved by all who knew you.  I feel deprived not getting that chance. Cory - Although I only met you a few times I feel as if I know you well through stories shared from your Nan, my wonderful friend.  And we share the Shay genes - for good or bad!! A year is almost here. I can't believe the time has passed, it just feels like yesterday you left us. I visit this page quite often, your memories stay in my head, all the good and bad. I just wish there were no bad ones. The other day I was at your Nan's with your dad and the kids for Mother's Day. I looked down and there was a spider, I am sure you know the first thing that came out of your Dad's mouth was to step on it, but your Nan wanted it to live, so she picked it up and put it outside. Well, that reminded me of you right away. I remember the day you were calling out to me to come to your bedroom, like there was some major catastrophe happening. I came in and you said put out your hand, I did and you laid a little tiny spider in it. I said "and what would you like me to do with this". You said "take it outside and let it go". I giggled and then did what you asked. So many little things remind me of you. Even looking at some pictures of the Christmas Tree just reminded me of how much you loved Christmas and how you never saw the Christmas tree this year. So I will post a picture here for you, and maybe somewhere, somehow you can see it. I always try to remind your dad of the good, funny times he had with you as you asked me to, it's very difficult at times, because he is hurting so bad. Some days are worse than others, but I will always keep my promise to you.

Having a bad day bud, miss you so much, 11 months now and its still killing me your gone. The pain is the same as the day they called at 4:45 to tell me you  were gone. My heart stopped and the pain in my head and chest was so bad  but then I realized at least you were not suffering anymore, I guess its our time to suffer with out you here. I know your Nan, Dina and I are still feeling the lose. I think about you all the time sometimes good thoughts and some bad even the good ones make me cry cause I know ill never get  to enjoy them with you again.

10 months now, it seems like yesterday.
Still every thing reminds me of you, songs on the radio shows on TV even just looking out my window, all I see is you. Now I'm even watching Habs games and yelling just like you when they make bad plays or can't get the puck out of there end. Well it's all tied up again and I bet you have been on the edge of your seat yelling and cheering for your team. I wish you were here so we could yell together. 
So you and Rick sit on there bench and kick there butts and make them win cause I want you to be happy and I know how good you feel when they do.

What can I say Cory, HABS lost last night and I have to face a dreadful Bruins fan today. We did have two games up on them, but now we have to give one to them. Having lunch with the RVP today (he's the Bruins fan) and he knows how much of a HABS fan you are. He was here at the Branch for a day we had devoted to hockey and I was wearing your HABS jersey that Koivu signed. Well, I told him all about you and how proud I was to wear that jersey for you. I always was a Montreal Canadiens fan but you just made me more of one. All those nights we watched those games with you, I will never forget. I remember you and your father laughing at me everytime I got all worked up when the puck was in their corner. Good times, I will always cherish. Hope you and Rick are smiling down on us. As usual you are on my mind and your legacy page is where I turn to.

It's 10 months today. They say time heals all wounds - I wonder who "they" are. I miss you as much today as I did back then. It's been quite a year, and now losing cousin Rick is another blow. I can still hear the wonderful tribute Rick read at your celebration of life - You were like two peas in a pod - loving, selfless and smart beyond your years. I expect that both of you are now running the show up there. Keep a watch over all of us.

I didn't know you very well Cory, but to me you were a very brave man and loved by so many.  My heart aches for your family especially your mom and dad, no parent should have to outlive their children.  I know you are in a better place and they will be with you one day. Was driving home yesterday and an Ozzy song came on the radio. It was I'll meet you on the other side. Well I dam well better cuz its killing me to not see you every day. I ended up at your grandfathers grave not sure why cuz I never go there I probably should but whats the since if I dont believe he hears me. Anyway I had your pic in my truck the one of you in your Habs jersey and I taped it to his head stone. If I'm wrong your with him and I sure hope I am but only time will tell. At least when I go there now

8 months today - how the time has flown and yet has stood still when it comes to missing you my darling boy. I know you are in a happy place and you're looking after all of us, guiding us and making us better people as only you could do. I miss your beautiful smile and sometimes your grumpy face, but most of all I just miss not having you to talk to - always inspiring me not to worry, not to try to change things that couldn't be changed "it is what it is, stop worrying" was your sage advice and I truly try to do just that knowing how cranky you would be if I didn't.

It seems silly writing to you on here but somehow it makes me feel better.
Even though my wishes are many when it comes to you, one of them would be, 
to have you home after I finish my day. I miss our talks so much. I never took for granted those days you asked me how my day was, I wish I could have those days back. To see that smile on your face after I told you my stories of the day, just made my worries for you just a little easier to bare. Your words of wisdom were always good for me. Imagine a 22 year old man, giving advice to a 35 year old woman; you were such an old soul. If there is one thing I can take from all your advice it would be, when you said to me, “Don’t worry about what people around us believe, we know the truth as we are living it day to day, not them and that’s all that matters.” Some days are harder to swallow than others. But you are right, all that matters is that we know the truth and most of all, so did you. When will this get any better….not sure.  Hopefully one day, when memories of you come to mind, our tears will slowly turn into smiles, because remembering you will bring us the comfort we need. I love you hunny, we all love you and everyday we miss you more and more.

So today is your dad's birthday and you keep entering my mind. Even when I went to get his present, the song that came on the radio in the store was the one that reminds me of you. I know it sounds silly but I almost believe you were there with me (you were probably trying to tell me not to waste money on that card ;). So tonight when I light your dad's candles, I will light them in honour of you and the gift you gave him when you were born. I wrote to you yesterday, but without you here to rectify my computer problems, guess it just didn't get through. You remember my nickname, Cyrus the Virus, well true to form, the message disappeared.

Getting ready for Christmas, because you would be very angry if I didn't put the tree up and get on with things, but it is a bit tough. Didn't have you to measure the distance between ornaments (didn't even use a tape measure this year), but you would be proud - your Aunt Nancy did most of the work and is a bit pernickity like you, so it looks good.

Its snowing today - you would be a happy camper, but I know wherever you are there is winter and Christmas and all the things you really love, just without the pain and suffering.

Well, I decorated the tree about a week ago and all I could think about was you and how much you loved Christmas. But, as I was decorating, your picture on the wall kept watching me. Some days suck worse than others without you here but trust me they all suck. I wish I knew that when I die I'd see you again it might help the pain. I will always remember that little guy who arrived into 607 so many years ago. He was a fighter and so were you guys. I learnt a lot caring for all of you. My thoughts are with you at this time. Know that you raised a fighter with a great sense of reality.

It will be 1 week tomorrow since you left us. You were such an important part of my life and I miss you terribly. I know you would say "Nan, it is what it is", but that doesn't seem to help tonight. I know you are looking after us and keeping us strong. Love you and miss you.

My thoughts & prayers have been with you throughout this time.  Cory was an incredible young man that will be in my heart always.  He was such a positive role model to so many, both young and old.  So many have taken his words of wisdom and advise and have benefited from knowing him.

Although cancer has taken him away, it brought forth some friendships.  He helped Chad when Chad had to have a biopsy. Cory gave him the low down on what to expect.  They were both 13.  Fortunately, Chad's OK. I refer to Cory, Chad & Kyle as the 3 Amigos.  

Take comfort in knowing he is in a better place and at peace.  There will be a piece of him with you always.  Find strength in knowing he would want you to move on.  One day at a time and step by step.

RIP cory you will be greatly missed!  my thoughts are with all your family and close friends!  may the memories each and every person has with you bring them some comfort in this tough time.  You will never be forgotten! xox  Katie (Pickrem) Bradley

Words are so inadequate at this sad time. My very deepest sympathy goes out to you all.
For so many years I have been holding Cory and all of you in thought and prayer.  Sadly, sometimes prayers are answered by bringing peace, acceptance and freedom from pain.  My prayer now is that this same peace and comfort will touch each of you in the days, weeks and months ahead.
You all gave Cory such a rich foundation: one filled with love, family, faith, unconditional support and , above all, laughter.  No better gifts exist.
Cory lived his short life with such a zest for living and strength of character.....wonder where he got that??
He, as well as you, are inspirations for everyone who had the good fortune to touch your family circle.

I'll never forget the memories I've been able to share with Cory. He always was & always will be an amazing person in my life; I will always look back to advice he has given me to push myself forward, as that was his way of life, to give everyone else wisdom of his young years to get through, and I will miss those quotes for the rest of my life, but will remember him in the times that I need them. Thank you Cory, for being the strongest, bravest guy I know, you have given us all the strength to get on through this difficult time.

Sheldon and family - We are so sorry for your loss and have been thinking about you alot.  We didn't personally get to know Cory all that well, but it was alway obvious how much he meant to you and it's becoming more obvious just how much he meant to countless others.  Be strong as you move forward and be proud of what an outstanding person Cory was, and the important role you played in that.

My deepest sympathy to the Shay family.  I hope that you take comfort in knowing that Cory is in a better place and as long as you know this you will get through it. I remember Cory when he first got sick and was in the hospital doing treatment. Michael was in there at that time due to an accident with a 3-wheeler and we would visit Cory and I remember thinking then what a brave boy he was.
I know first hand the pain that you are feeling and its the worst thing any human being can go through to lose a child. I can say that you will never have a day that he will not be in your thoughts but with each passing day the pain gets a little easier. I miss MIchael everyday and fortunately I had a wonderful man to help me through my difficult time and he still does at times. 
Take care of each other and hold on to all the wonderful memories..
