He will hold a special place in the hearts of his remaining siblings, Willard, Richie (Darlene), Tom, Derek (Brenda), Be, Barb (Suzanne) Sandra (Michael) Wayne (John), Valerie, Johnny (Carol) Carla, as well as countless in-laws, nieces, nephews, cousins both near and far, as well as those he considered his extended family.
Dale was predeceased by the love of his life, Thelma Moulton, brothers Ralph, Zar (Gerald),Ducky (Donald), and great niece Arabella.
Unique in every way Dale was genuine and kind, lived a simple life at his own pace, a very simple man whose lives he touched along the way, will remember Dale as one of a kind, The Boss as he was known to many of us .Dale was born April 13,1952 and was one of 15 children. Memories of Dale will be talked about for years to come, always special, all priceless.
Dale and Thelma started their journey together at a young age and simply adored each other right up to the day she passed. Their son Dale Jr. brought great pride and joy to their lives; they showered him with love and guidance. Dale was blessed with his grandson Izaac and he loved him dearly, they shared special times together and most recently had the opportunity to spend time together with Grampy Dale while he was in the hospital, that meant the world to Dale and you could see they joy in his eyes, Thelma would have been so proud.
Dale's work ethic never went unnoticed; he started driving a cab for Y-Taxi many years ago followed by years with Casino Taxi and a few others after that, known all over HRM as "480" , his roof light number. He drove with pride, knowledge and strict rules, he had one of the cleanest cabs in town , a full day (and mostly into the night) he would thoroughly clean his cab, top to bottom, bumper to trunk, not a spot or streak to be found. His driving schedule stayed the same for 40 years or more, organized and reliable was a part of his unique personality.
Dale enjoyed camping over the years hauling his pop up trailer from place to place, and until his health issues prevented him from travelling, never missed a year camping on PEI for Old Home week, Oh boy, did he love a good bonfire, earning him the title, "Fire Warden"! He loved to sit around and tell stories, a good laugh with family and friends, a good drink and his beloved "Export A", he sure enjoyed his cigarettes.
He was often referred to as the "Trail Boss". His bacon and eggs were always made to perfection, as were all his meals, no food could touch the other. (He took long enough).
Dale enjoyed a good game of cards at the Surf club with the gang, and most times lasted well into the next day, again, at his own pace, the man had patience.
Dales passion for horse racing started at a young age, beginning at the Sackville downs, to the Truro raceway to his beloved Old Home Week on the Island, program in hand, catching up with the trainers, and scratching his numbers and notes as he made his plan on who or what horse to bet on. Dale was in his glory, then off to Grand River PEI to enjoy time with family and friends.
Another lifelong passion of Dale's was playing pool, he took it very seriously, and most times was the Captain first starting with the Surf club, followed by many other clubs he played for up until this year, he played well and his dedication to his team members and the Metro Pool League will never be forgotten. Dale gave selflessly and never asked for anything in return, his dry sense of humour, quick wit, and a logical way of carrying himself, the stories he told, in great detail will be remembered forever. His love for his family will be cherished forever, rest easy dear Dale you're home with those departed who you loved and missed so dearly, We will all miss you so much , your loving family xox
