Dallas Giles Cole

Dallas grew up in Fairview and spent his later years in Lower Sackville, NS. He lived life with a spirit of adventure and an appreciation for nature that never faded. Whether he was casting a line before sunrise, snorkeling or diving a reef, spending time in the quiet of the forest, he was truly at home with nature. His greatest happiness was found sharing adventures with his adoring wife Lynn. They both cherished the time they spent together and the love of the outdoors.

For more than 25 years, Dallas was employed at Nova Scotia Community College (Akerley Campus). It was the perfect fit for him and his skill set. He was adept with almost any machine he put his hands on. Dallas held various positions with the Facilities Support Crew, one of which was Lead Hand. Throughout his tenure at NSCC, he believed in lifelong learning. He studied diligently to obtain many certifications pertaining to his workplace. Two of his certifications were Building Environmental Systems Operations and Operational Excellence with Honors. He took genuine pride in his work and enjoyed interacting with students and faculty.

Dallas’ interests and hobbies were extensive. He was very musical; he had a wide vocal range and could play both bass and drums. He enjoyed shooting a game of pool and was always a good sport. Watching football with Lynn on Sundays was a must and spending time with his Chocolate Lab Marlee was truly one of his favorite past times.

Cultivating the greenest and best lawn in the neighborhood was at the top of his list! His horticultural knowledge allowed him to grow just about anything; he was very resourceful and foraged for seeds wherever he went. Dallas also deserved the ‘Husband of the Year Award’ for accompanying his wife on her endless rock hounding pursuits.

Those who knew him will remember his kindness, his quiet strength, his competence, unassuming nature, and the steady presence he brought to every room. He was a man of his word. Dallas had sarcasm down to a science, paired with a great sense of humor whether it was a poke in the ribs, a sly pun, or a classic "yolk" that would make you laugh.

Dallas will be deeply missed, lovingly remembered, and forever carried in the hearts of all who had the privilege of knowing him.

He was predeceased by his parents, Bob and Reta Cole of Lower Sackville, NS. He cared for them faithfully throughout their lives, and was a devoted son to the very end.

He is survived by his loving wife, Lynn Zinck of Rockingham; his sisters, Carmen Cole and Pam (Merv) Russel; sister-in-law, Cherie (Brian) Hatfield, and nieces Brooke and Delaney Hatfield; his Chocolate Lab, Marlee, and his cats, Puddy P and Bunny.

Visitation will be Saturday August 8, 2026 5pm – 8pm with a Service on Sunday August 9 at 2pm followed by a reception at J.A. Snow’s Funeral Home, 339 Lacewood Drive, Halifax.
