Born in Sydney, N.S. August 30, 1934. He was the son of the late Joseph Alphonse Briand and Roseanne Elizabeth Briand Nee O’Rourke.
Dad’s best qualities were displayed through his genuine smile, his kindness and his love of laughter. He was truly more concerned for others than himself.
Dad’s contagious spirit was found with all those that knew him. He studied at Saint Mary’s University, played Hockey for the Saint Mary’s High School and University Teams. He worked the majority of his career with the Department of Housing and taught Bookkeeping through Continuing Education for 20 years.
He was an active and valued community volunteer for 54 years. He volunteered with St Pius X and Saint Benedict Parish, Community Volunteer Income Tax Program, Knights of Columbus, Church Choirs and many other smaller organizations.
Dad is survived by his wife, Ann (nee Doyle); daughters, Lynn Briand, Quebec City, Deborah Hanusiak (Michael), Halifax, Suzanne (Terry) Stirling, Waterloo; and son, Joseph (Eva), Halifax. He has 10 fantastic grandchildren: Victoria and Hannah Forest Briand; Laura Brett and Joshua Hanusiak; Jordan, Jeremy, Alex and Daniel Stirling; Lily and Celia Briand. Also surviving is his sister, Joan Pledge, LaHabre, California. Dad loved the Doyle family, his nieces/nephews, and had a special place in his heart for all his dear friends.
