

David Lloyd Godwin of Hammonds Plains, formerly of Bedford. It is with heavy hearts that the family of David Godwin announce his passing on October 20, 2025 at the Victoria General Hospital with family at his side. Born in Halifax he was the son of the late James and Mildred (Mahoney) Godwin.
In his earlier years David worked in the construction industry which gave him the opportunity of earning his red seal in carpentry. He worked at the Halifax Regional School Board before retiring from Halifax Regional Municipality as a Certified Building Inspector.
David is survived by his wife and best friend Karen (nee Dorey) along with his siblings Mary Ann (Ronald) Connors, Halifax, James (Doreen), Bedford, Patricia (William) Flack, Halifax, Patrick, Stanley and John (Denise) Ontario, and sisters-in-law Lynn, Kristine and brother-in-law Richard Boudreau, Timberlea along with many nieces and nephews. David was predeceased by his parents and his sister Ida Godwin and brothers Ken Godwin and Gary Godwin.
In his spare time David could be found in his workshop working on projects or in the summer relaxing by the lake with his dogs, family and friends. David was always willing to give a helping hand to anyone that called for building, renovating or advice on their construction projects.
Visitation will be held 7-9 p.m., Tuesday, November 4, 2025 at J.A. Snow Funeral Home, 339 Lacewood Dr. Halifax. Funeral service will be 12:15 p.m., Wednesday, November 5, 2025 in St. Ignatius Parish, 1288 Bedford Highway, followed by a reception in the Parish Hall and the Interment at Brookside Cemetery, Wardour Street.
The family would like to thank the nurses and doctors in the emergency departments of both the Cobequid Centre and the QE hospitals, for their care and compassion.
