Born in Penobsquis, New Brunswick Dave was the son of Walter Stuart and Alberta Pearl (McQuinn) Murray. He began his working career at the age of 17 with the Bank of Nova Scotia in Sussex, N.B. and remained with Scotiabank for 43 years, rising to the position of Manager, Coburg and Robie branch in Halifax.
Dave was an avid golfer and won the Scotiabank Cup on many occasions. He also took up skiing in his sixties and enjoyed gardening, devoting most of his Bridgeview-Rockingham backyard to this purpose.
Dave was pre-deceased by his first wife, the former Kathleen Henderson, his second wife, Patricia Paddock, one sister and five brothers.
He is survived by his sister Elizabeth Pickel of Newport News, Virginia; son John David (Kathy) Murray, daughter Deborah (Kevin) Publicover, granddaughters Collette Whiting, Cheryl Poole, Laura (Jarrod) Francis, grandson Christopher Murray, great-granddaughters Savannah Gardin, Ava Poole and Lillian Poole, all of Halifax-Bedford.
The family would like to thank the staff of Oceanview Manor-Bayside, Eastern Passage, N.S. for their considerate care during Dave’s final months.
Cremation has already taken place. Visitation will be on Monday, August 31 at Sheffield Baptist Church, 80 Lincoln Cross, Halifax, N.S. from 9:30 am to 10:30am, followed by a funeral service at 11:00am. Reception will follow in the church hall.
Interment will take place at a later date at Cardwell Cemetery, Penobsquis, N.B.
