
David Richards passed early today in peace and comfort. David is survived by his son Evan of Seattle, WA, Evan's husband, Robert Alward also of Seattle WA; his sister Dr. Frances Bail of French Village NS and his brother-in-law Florian Bail also of French Village NS. Henry Bradford, of Wolfville NS, David's best friend for life is also part of the family and survives David.
David was born in May 1930 in Campbelton NB, and grew up in Wolfvile NS graduating from Acadia University in 1952. David moved west to work in the oil business as an engineer in 1952 and met and married Pat Richards (nee Millington - now deceased) in Calgary AB. They were married in 1957, and spent many years in Calgary AB, Edmonton AB, Swift Current SK and Drayton Valley AB. In 1961, David graduated from McGill University in Montreal PQ with an MSc in Mechanical Engineering. David and Pat soon moved overseas for 18 years living in Colombia, Texas, Nigeria and Norway. His only son Evan was born in 1965 in Tibu Colombia. David spent his lengthy career in the oil business working for Exxon Mobil for many years followed by Shell Oil and Pan Ocean Limited.
Soon after returning to the Halifax area in 1981, David retired and spent many years enjoying world politics, history of all types and spending time with his family - including lengthy and spirited debates on a variety of topics!
