

David Russell White, age 74 of Bedford passed away peacefully at the Halifax Infirmary on December 29th, 2013. Born in Halifax, he was the son of John and Nora (Pottie) White. As a young man he worked for Bill Lynch Shows and he also drove for Y Taxi. David retired after more than 39 years as a member of Longshoreman’s Association in Halifax, Local 269. He served as an executive of the Mayflower Club, was a long term member of the Royal Canadian Legion and was a lifetime member of Resolute Club.
David's interests included fishing and playing cards, especially Crib. He also played darts and formerly played as a member of the Club 60 dart league. David enjoyed freelance cooking with no recipes required and everyone enjoyed his creations. Many will remember David for his rhythm and love of dancing, especially the jive.
Survived by his wife, Beverly (Joynt) and their son, Bradley at home. He is also survived by his former wife, Ruth Westall and their children, David (Nancy) Williamswood, Dana (Mary), Hammonds Plains, Steve (Cheryl) Sackville, and Samantha (Lorne) Eastville; sister, Lillian Cornut, Kirkland, QC; as well as 6 grandchildren, Andrew, Jacqueline, Monica, Natasha, Rebecca and Amanda and 4 great grandchildren, Brea, Caleb, Thomas and Carter and many nieces and nephews. Predeceased by his parents and brothers, Alec, Jackie and Jimmie; sisters, Mary, Lorraine, Bertha & Theresa; great granddaughter Ava as well as son in law, Philip.
Visitation will be held on Saturday January 4, from 5-6 pm in J. A. Snow Funeral Home, 339 Lacewood Drive, Halifax, (455-0531). A service celebrating David's life will be held immediately after at 6 pm in the J. A. Snow Memorial Chapel with reception to follow.
