Dennis Joseph Boudreau

It is with profound sadness that the family of Dennis Boudreau announce his passing on August 9,2026 at the VG Hospital, Unit 8b, after a very courageous battle with blood cancer.

Dennis was the eldest son of Amedee and Margaret Boudreau of Poulamond, Cape Breton.

At the age of 17, Dennis left his home in Cape Breton and moved to Halifax where he began his career at Simpsons and lived the remainder of his life. Dennis worked initially in the receiving department. Through hard work and years of dedication he made his way to become Store Manager, taking a position in Sydney Cape Breton with what is now Hudson's Bay Company. He worked there for 2 years before moving back to Halifax in 1985 as Store Manager with The Bay in Dartmouth until his retirement in 1999.

After Dennis retired, he took some time and enjoyed working around his home and yard planting gardens. He loved to cook and was always trying out a new recipe always sharing with his daughter, Monique. He was a skilled craftsman and loved woodworking in his meticulously organized garage. Always a project on the go, from tables, cabinets, jelly cupboards, benches, and beautiful keepsakes for his beloved grandchildren.

After a couple of years, Dennis went to work part time at Home Depot where he loved helping customers seeking advice about their own home projects. Dennis was a "MacGyver." There wasn't anything he couldn't figure out or find a solution for.

Amongst busy everyday life, Dennis always made time for his family. It was crucial to his existence. Whether it be attending his grandson's hockey games, granddaughter's dance recitals, family dinners, birthdays, vacations, and travelling (his most favorite destination on earth was Florida), dad was a solid presence. We will miss you always, dad.

Besides his parents, Dennis was predeceased by his younger brother, Stan Boudreau.

Surviving are his wife of 62 years, Joyce (Isnor), his daughter, Monique Boudreau, son, Todd (Catherine) Boudreau, grandchildren, Connor, Skylar, and Noah Boudreau, and beloved granddog, Pearl.

He is also survived by his sister, Barbara (Kerry) Vincent, New Market Ontario, and brother, Kenny (Carol Ann Britten) Boudreau, Cape Breton, as well as many nieces and nephews.

Special thanks to Dr Ernest Johnson, Dr Curtis Marcoux, and Dr Nivee Pandian for her knowledge, kindness, compassion, and beautiful bedside manner, as well as the amazing nurses on 8b and all the nurses in medical day unit who treated our beloved dad with such dignity and respect.

Cremation has taken place under the direction of JA Snow Funeral Home, Lakewood Drive, Halifax.

A celebration of life will be held on Sunday August 16,2026 at JA Snow Funeral Home, 339 Lacewood Drive, Halifax, NS. B3S 0E1.
