

Born in Halifax, he was the eldest son of the late Guy and Audrey (Greencorn) Hendsbee.
Don was employed for 31 years with Sysco Food Services of Canada in Lakeside. As a young adult, he played baseball and coached hockey for 26 years.
He was an avid Nascar fan and regularly traveled to the races in various parts of the United States.
Don had many hobbies including playing cribbage, washers, bicycling, reading and following most sports on TV.
Don and Bonnie often traveled, their most recent trip was to Hawaii in May to attend their niece’s wedding.
Complete strangers were drawn to Don’s infectious personality and huge smile and he made friends wherever he went.
He is survived by his wife, Bonnie (Turner) Hendsbee of 39 years, three sisters, Brenda Perry (Mark), Nancy White (David), Susan Jesso (Aaron) one brother, Michael Hendsbee, several nieces and nephews: Matthew and Stephen Perry, Jacqueline and Monica White, Nicholas Jesso, Garth MacIntosh, Stephen Durling, Cherra Gillis, Scott Pineo and Rachael Jude (Pineo).
Cremation has taken place and a memorial service will be held at J. A. Snow Funeral Home, 339 Lacewood Drive, Halifax on Saturday, December 29 at 1:00 p.m. Burial will take place at a later date.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Canadian Cancer Society.
