

Donald A. Whittemore, 79, passed away in Northwood Ivany Place, Bedford on Saturday February 4, 2012. A police sergeant and proud member of the Halifax Police Department for 36 years, he spent 30 years riding his Harley for the traffic division. Born in Halifax, July 1st, 1932, he was the son of the late Walter and Maisie Whittemore. An avid sports enthusiast who loved to watch his grandchildren at their sporting events and enjoyed the Moosehead hockey games with his best friend, Tony Mathieu. He is survived by his loving family; wife, Katherine (Sears), sons, Donald/ Sandy (Carolyn and daughter Olivia), David (Kelly), daughter, Susan Langille (John) and grandchildren, David, Heather and Laura. Sisters Ruth Blakeney, Jean Lane, and brother George. Predeceased by brother Doug and sister Helen MacAloney. Visitation will be 6-9pm Tuesday February 7 at Snow’s Funeral Home, 339 Lacewood Drive. A funeral service will be held Wednesday February 8 at 11:30am at Saint Mark’s Anglican Church 5525 Russell St. Donations may be made to the Alzheimers Society of Nova Scotia .
