Doris DeVries

DeVRIES (Ehler), Doris Ina — Halifax, passed away April 11, 2010, in the Palliative Care Unit of the VG Site QEII. Born in Queensport, Guysborough Co., she was the daughter of Lola Kathleen (Digdon) MacPherson and Torrey Eugene Ehler. Doris was a Bon Vivant who enjoyed good food, good friends, good times and her beloved cats. Doris loved to travel. She fulfilled her passion for cooking and entertaining when she opened her Bed and Breakfast. Doris spent many hours doing volunteer work in every community in which she lived. Doris is survived by her husband, Gordon Sidney DeVries; sisters, Dorothy Robinson (Robert), Glenda Taylor (Glenn), Karen MacPherson (Derrek Wong); brothe, Joseph MacPherson (Sharon Steeves). She is predeceased by her parents, stepfather Cornelius MacPherson; sister, Ann MacKinnon; brothers, Lauchlin and Michael MacPherson. Visitation will be from 6-8 p.m. on Tuesday April 13 in J. A. Snow Funeral Home, 339 Lacewood Dr., Halifax where a memorial service will be held on Wednesday April 14 at 2 p.m. with Rev. Tom Woods officiating.
