A Life Well Lived

Doris was a bright, quick learner who loved school and even skipped a grade to get an early start on life. With her natural beauty, warm disposition, style, compassion, honesty, and pleasant demeanour, she was a truly popular soul who excelled in everything she did to her optimum potential.

After many years of secretly admiring each other across the aisle at church, Doris and Ozzie Timmins finally "hooked up," beginning a great life together that rolled happily through the years.

Before retiring from the TCA (now Air Canada), Doris and Ozzie traveled to many amazing places, including Rome, Hawaii, Barbados, Bermuda, and across Canada and the United States. In 2002, they moved to Anchor Drive from the wonderful home they had built together in Fleming Heights.

Style, Laughter, and Joy

They both were remarkably stylish. They loved dressing up for weekly church attendance, special events around town, went swimming at the Waegwoltic Club and Hubbards, and enjoyed the company of family and friends. They loved to dance, and Ozzie —a constant source of amusement—kept her and everyone snickering with his endless jokes and antics.

Doris embraced life fully, weathering both good and bad times with grace. When asked the secret to her longevity, she credited a simple formula: eating plenty of chocolate and candies, enjoying morning coffee, having the occasional glass of wine, and surrounding herself with friends, family.

Her love and belief in the power of the rosary was a testament to her faith. She was immensely proud to be the family's first centenarian.

Reflecting on her journey, Doris often said it was a marvellous ride, considering her family and close friends to be her "ambassadors." She believed the common thread linking them all was a shared responsibility to help others simply because it was the right thing to do—a philosophy by which she lived every single day.

Doris was predeceased by her parents, Leo and Margaret; her beloved husband, Oswald(Ozzie) Timmins; and her siblings Leo, Warren, Terry, and Virginia ("Ginny"). She leaves behind many cherished nieces and nephews.

In her later decades, Doris was deeply loved, supported, and cared for by her nephews ( Leo's familv) -Bob and Dorothy, Mike and Luella, Alda (wife of the late Lynn Woods), and their families. She will also be profoundly missed by her wonderful friends and neighbors at Anchor Drive in Halifax.

Special gratitude is extended to her dedicated caregivers, especially Nicole Anderson, whose exceptional care, love, and loyal companionship stayed by Doris's side through all the good times until the very end. The family also extends sincere thanks to Elaine, all her Paramedic home care angels and the VON for their compassionate support as well as the palliative care team.

No visitation by her request.

Funeral service will be at Snow's on Lacewood Drive on Tuesday, August 18, at 10 am. followed by a reception for refreshments and fellowship. Interment at Gate of Heaven, Lower Sackville Donations to the Halifax Hospice on 618 Francklyn Street would be greatly appreciated.
