Age 85 of Halifax, passed away on August 6, 2019. Born in Halifax, she was a daughter of the late Matthew and Christine (Glaveen) Lynch. Dot worked as a teacher assistant with the former Halifax City School Board. Miss Dot, as she was affectionately referred to by her students, was a loving, caring advocate for the many children in her care at both Bloomfield and Joseph Howe Schools.
She was predeceased by her husband, Robert V. (Bob); daughter, Christine Squires; sisters, Marguerite (Reg) Peters, Aileen (Bobby) Twohig, Marilyn (Eddy) Monk; brothers, Joe Lynch, Jimmy Lynch. Dot is survivied by sons, Bruce (Cynthia), Matthew (Jill), daughters, Donna (Anne) and Paula (George), son-in-law, Steve Squires (Sue). She is survived by her five grandchildren, Kelly (Kevin) Murphy, Leah (Shane Hogan) Davies, Sarah Davies and Griffin and Dillon Gibson. Dot is also survived by sister, Marie (Frank) Hubley; sisters-in-law, Joyce Lynch, Norma Lynch as well as many nieces and nephews.
Cremation has taken place. Family and friends are invited to celebrate Dot’s life in J.A. Snow’s Funeral Home, 339 Lacewood Drive from 2-4 p.m. on Saturday, August 10th. Family flowers only. Donations may be made to the Heart and Stroke Foundation or to a charity of your choice. Burial at Gate of Heaven Cemetery, Lower Sackville at a later date.
