It is with great love, respect, and heartache that we announce the death of our father, Dugger McNeil, after 87 wonderful years. Dad died peacefully on January 18th at home, with dignity, surrounded by family.
Born in Halifax, he was the son of the late Jim & Mary McNeil. He was predeceased by his loving wife and life long partner, Marion. He is survived by his brother, John "Jack", his three children, son, Ross (Stephanie), daughter, Marie Bowness (Hugh), both of Halifax, daughter, Mary-Anne Lyons (David) of Calgary, grandchildren, Neil, Erin, and Mark Lyons, Jamie and Lisa Bowness, Storme and Skyler McNeil, as well as numerous nieces and nephews.
Besides his wife and parents Dugger was predeceased by his three brother and three sisters. Dugger was many things to many people but to us he was "our Dad".
We have been so fortunate to have had such a great example of courage, compassion, caring, and strength to guide us through the years. His life has been a shining star for us to follow and that light will never dim.
Special thanks to Tom Abraham, care givers Carmie Hamilton and Janet Bowness as well as all the staff at the QEII Hospital/ Halifax Infirmary Site.
Visitation will be held in J.A. Snow Funeral Home. 339 Lacewood Drive, Halifax on Thursday, January 22 from 2-4 pm and 7-9 pm. A celebration of this great man's life will be held at 10:30 am, Friday, January 23 in Saint Benedict Parish, 45 Radcliff Drive, Halifax.
