

GIFFIN, Effie Winnifred – Age 82 of Halifax, passed away January 3, 2013 at home. Born in Ecum Secum Bridge, Halifax County, she was the daughter of the late Henry and Laura (Bezanson) Barnard. Effie was a dedicated member of St. Margaret of Scotland Anglican Church. She was an avid card player and gardener and enjoyed the outdoors and driving around in the country. She is survived by one daughter, Susan Yvon of Halifax; four sons; Gregory, Alberta, Bill, Halifax, Christopher, Halifax and Bernie, France. She is also survived by siblings Vera Dixon, Dartmouth, Phyllis Prudhomme, British Columbia, Dixie Dupon, Dartmouth, Melda Morash, Halifax; Reginald, Yarmouth; Jim, Ecum Secum and Steven, Bedford; two grandchildren, two great-grandchildren and several nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her husband Bernard (Bert), sisters; Geraldine and Edith and half-sisters Anita and Ruby and half-brothers Owen, Wallace and Perry. There will be no visitation by request. Cremation has taken place. Burial in Fairview Cemetery on Saturday, January 12 at 10 AM with a Memorial Service following at 11 AM at St. Margaret of Scotland Anglican Church, Rev.
