Elaine Marie Wiwczor

Born to Oliver and Neta Schnare of Sambro, NS on Jan. 6th 1948. She leaves behind her three children Rick Jr, Todd (Tabither), Angela (Matt); grandchildren Michael (Anika), Kevin (Chris), Alvin; her sister Pam (Roland); brothers Ron (Celi), Sheldon, Lorne (Kathy), Marvin (Joan), Wade (Jackie); cherished niece Claudette; and many nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her husband of 57 years Rick Sr; her siblings; Ray, Larry, George and Bonnie.

Her first job was a nutritionist in the kitchens of the VG at age 15. Soon after she married a military man, followed by postings to CFB: Cold Lake, AB; Trenton, ON; Lahr, Germany; and Downsview, ON.

Her favourite posting was Lahr, where she enjoyed travelling throughout Europe. She especially loved trips with fellow military wives, friends she kept for her entire life.

Her other passions were genealogy (which she shared with her sister Pam and cousins), knitting, gardening, baking and cooking. Her holiday meals and hosting family were her love language. She was forever overjoyed with her grandchildren. Her reply to “I love you” was “Love you more.”

Always ready with a hug, her laughter, smile and sense of humour were infectious. She was fur mom to Lil Bit and Ellie.

Please toast her with a glass of riesling (her fave), and make donations in her memory to the Alzheimer Society of NS and the SPCA. Thank you to Trisha, Rhonda and Helen, Grace and Tayo, her dedicated care workers. Love you more mom.

Cremation has taken place and a church service will take place on Friday 18th October 2024, at 10:30am at the Saint James United Church in Sambro, NS.
