Elisabeth Geertruida Louise Hulstein

Elisabeth "Elly” Hulstein, née van der Linden. Age 86 It is with sadness that we announce the passing of Elly/Mum/Oma and Great-Oma, peacefully in her sleep on April 23, 2024. Elly was born in 1938 in The Hague, Netherlands and her childhood spanned the difficult war years. She emigrated to Canada in 1956 and in 1957 married Roger (Reijer) in Vancouver, BC where they started a family, moving to Nova Scotia in 1962. Roger and Elly were inseparable partners and lived a full life in Vancouver, Halifax, and Port Hastings, Cape Breton. They travelled extensively, together and on special trips with each grandchild, lived and worked in Nepal, Indonesia and Tanzania before retiring in 1992 to their beloved Nova Scotia and beautiful Bayswater. Elly is survived by her husband Roger, brother Wim van der Linden (Netherlands) and sister Mejan Reijm (British Columbia), three children; Roger (Nicole), Kim (Peter), and Lars (Mary), plus 7 grandchildren, 10 great-grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews. As per her wishes cremation has taken place; there will be no service. We would like to add sincere thanks to Dr. Reza Mehrpooya, the staff at Earth Angels, Sheldrake Lodge, Halifax Infirmary and Parkstone Enhanced Care for their exceptional help and care over the last few years.
