

Bissonnette, Ellen Marie - 52 of Lower Sackville, passed away in the VG Site, QEII, Halifax on January 29, 2012. Born in the Halifax Infirmary 1959, she was the daughter of the late Barbara (Miles) and Rupert Green (from Newfoundland). Ellen worked with Purolater Courier for some years in her younger days before moving to the accounting team at the Halifax Police Department. She worked there until 1987. From there on she worked out of the home providing childcare and this was the role she excelled at and enjoyed the most. Ellen has always had a special way with all children. She was very passionate about her hockey night (NHL Games). Her home was always open to everyone and had the welcoming smell of baked goods. She always tried to help others, such as raising money for the Newfie Noggins Team for the Brain Tumor Foundation. She is survived by her husband, Stephen Wayne Bissonnette; daughter, Hayley Marie Day; of Lower Sackville; son, Michael Wayne (Robyn) Lower Sackville; sister, Bev Wier (Jacks), New Brunswick; brothers, Larry (Donna), Lower Sackville; Dave (Arleen), Lower Sackville; Tim (Denise), Eastern Passage; grandchildren, Madyson and Tyler that loved her very much; many nieces and nephews. Visitation will be held Wednesday, February 1st from 2-4 and 7-9pm in J.A. Snow Funeral Home, 339 Lacewood Drive, Halifax, 902-455-0537. A memorial service will be held in St. Margaret's of Scotland Church, 3751 Robie Street, Halifax, Thursday, February 2nd at 10am. Thank you to all the medical staff who assisted with her illness and a very special thanks to Dr. Daniel Rayson and his team for their kindness as Ellen praised them so much.
