Elsie Florence Hoben

Hoben, Elsie Florence-104, of London, ON and formerly Halifax. It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Elsie on June 7, 2022. Born in Frenchman’s Cove, NL on February 15, 1918, she was a daughter of the late William and Margaret Myles. Elsie and her husband moved to Halifax in 1947. For many years she worked as a seamstress at Sears and Murphy’s. She was also an avid knitter and loved to read. She was also known to be a very competitive card player.

Elsie was predeceased by her husband, Frank (1991); sons, Lloyd and Harvey; granddaughter, Sheila Yanda; and son-in-law, Bill Hinchliffe. She is survived by sister, Ethel Boland, St. John’s, NL; daughters, Margaret Hinchliffe, Edmonton, AB and Ledona Digout, Halifax; daughters-in-law, Mary Hoben and Shirley Hoben; grandchildren, Cathy Whiting (Ray), Diana Vongemmingen (Martin), Frank Hoben (Carrie), Sandy Edel (Mark), Tim Hoben, Greg Digout (Christy) and Rick Digout (Natalie); as well as many great grandchildren.

Visitation will be held on Monday June 13, 2022 at 1pm, immediately followed by funeral service at 2pm in J.A. Snow Funeral Home, 339 Lacewood Drive. Burial will take place in St. John’s Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers memorial donations may be made to the Canadian Cancer Society or the Alzheimer’s Society.
