Dad started work as a cabin boy on the troop ship Lady Rodney at the age of 14. After WW11 was over, he travelled from Halifax to England bringing back veterans. He later joined Imperial Oil marine division which gave him the opportunity to travel the world. He started as an Able Seaman and worked his way up to Bosun. His crewmates fondly nicknamed him Swannie. He retired from Imperial Oil after 41years of service at the age of 59. He was a kind and generous man, always willing to lend a hand where needed. His family and friends were his number one priority. Once Dad retired, he enjoyed puttering around his house in Lakeside and at his summer retreat in River Bourgeois. He was a lover of dogs, and greatly enjoyed the company of his many pets over the years.
Arrangements have been entrusted to J.A. Snow Funeral Home, 339 Lacewood Drive, Halifax (902-455-0531). Visitation will take place on Friday March 16, 2018 from 6-8 pm.
