It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of our beloved mother, grandmother, great-grandmother and sister, Eveline Habib, on June 6, 2022. Eveline was born in Jdeideh, Lebanon in 1947 and immigrated to Canada with her family, where she worked tirelessly alongside her late husband, Zake, in various successful businesses. Known for her compassion, Eveline opened her home and heart to many nieces and nephews who had immigrated to Canada and supported them as they established their new lives in Halifax. Eveline always took pride in her precious and loving children. She taught them to value and respect one another, which were life lessons that were soon passed on to their own children.
Eveline was the leader and the pillar of the family. Her warm heart and infectious smile touched many generations. The love she had for her family was undeniable, and her commitment to her church and community was unconditional. She was thankful to God for her blessings, especially her family, who were her greatest accomplishment; her absolute pride and joy. She emphasized the importance of family gatherings, giving rise to countless traditions that will continue in her honour. Those who knew Eveline would attest to her generosity, knowing very well she gave with all her heart and asked for nothing in return. Her greatest joy was seeing her grandchildren, with each one sharing a unique bond and a special place in her heart.
She will be forever loved and remembered by her children, Fouad Habib (Colleen), Victor Habib (Julie), Joey Habib (Lisa), Lorraine Zhouri (Joseph); her siblings, Victor Salloum (Angela), Adnan Salloum (Haifa), Melvina Dib (George), Siham Abdullah (Elias). She is predeceased by her father Elias Salloum, mother Minerva Salloum, brothers Roger and Issam (Ginger) Salloum. Taita (grandmother) Eveline will always be remembered and cherished by her 12 grandchildren, Natalie Rabbat (Chalita), Samantha Bou-Issa (Maurice), Chantal Bitar (Azar) and Marissa Lewis, Jake Habib, Kiauna Haddad (Joseph), Elias and Kaiya Habib, Chanel, Jamie, Mya, and Sam Zhouri; and by her 4 great-grandchildren, Mariah and Aidan Rabbat, Fouad and Angelina Bou-Issa. Her great love and strong faith will be dearly missed by her many nieces, nephews, cousins, family and friends.
She will be remembered as a loyal, faithful, and courageous woman who had an endless amount of love to give.
